Word of the day, shoaling
http://gothamist.com/2015/10/06/shoaling_cyclist_etiquette.php
I think there are times when shoaling is a necessary maneuver riding in the city. In my experience, when you ride up to an intersection with 2 or more Citi bikers in front of you, it takes them quite some time for each one of them to start moving when the light turns green, especially when they are riding side by side and talking to each other.
Verrazano-Narrows Bridge pathway would cost $300m-$400m

10k Elevation Gain, 100 Miles, GWB to Bear & Back...
Looking for critique, any assistance, route recommendations...
Essentially am trying to construct a route with 10k elevation gain total including summiting Bear.
I'd greatly appreciate it if the more sagacious route wise amongst you would have a gander at this route and let me know what you think...
Thank you!!!

Looking for a nice route from NYC to Philadelphia
Anyone have one? Using NJ Transit to start is okay.

What creep stole a 93-year-old's trike?
FYI. I've met Martin. A wonderful man. Old enough to call Richard Rosenthal "junior" while passing him up a hill.

POSSIBLE WAYS TO BOOST MEMBERSHIP[/SIG ATTENDANCE
I have no actual knowledge why membership is declining, but a couple of things occur to me as possible causes, and therefore changing them might reverse the trend. I agree with those who say that the number of members is not itself important -- it's a recreational cycling club after all. But, particularly given the time and work devoted by SIG Leaders and members who organize our larger rides (Newcomers, All-Class, and especially ENY) the decline in interest in these is troubling.

Membership Demographics
I apologise in advance for starting yet another thread about membership but I am doing so as my question is a bit different than those brought up by Ellen Jaffe and Derel Chu.
Last year sometime I asked this question and was basically rebuffed. Would it not be helpful to know some more demographics of the club membership. For example a break down by age group and gender. These questions are asked when one joins up. Could not this information be used to pin point where we are losing and gaining members. Is there a particular age group that is being underserved by the club. What might we do to encourage fuller participation.
Montecci folding bike?
Saw one in the display window of a nearby bike shop. Anyone tried one? Any happy (or otherwise) owners to share the experience?
Thanks.
