3/29 A-SIG Participant Training Laps in CP CANCELLED

Submitted by busschops on Mon, 03/28/2016 - 9:02pm

Due to the currently active Wind Advisory we are cancelling tomorrow’s (3/29) A-SIG CP Laps. With wind gusts of over 50mph in the forecast we don’t want to put anyone in harms way. So, set up the home trainer instead, hit the gym for a nice workout, sleep in, or prepare your significant other the best breakfast of the week.

B16 Central Park laps for Tuesday, 6am - canceled

Due to the wind advisory with predicted gusts of wind up to 45MPH.

Haverstraw trail

Submitted by mgeller1 on Mon, 03/28/2016 - 7:37pm

Is this possible? According  to Strava only 36 members of the NYCC have ridden(recorded) rides  on the beautiful 3.3 mile section?
Just rode it for the first time and very reccomended to anyone with a road bike with sufficiently wide tires.

Hi fellow NYCC members,

Mel's Burger Bar w/ indoor bike parking

Submitted by nychef on Mon, 03/28/2016 - 1:52pm
Went to Mel's Burger Bar after Saturday's SIG ride, and while it started out a bit rough they quickly became outstanding.

The waiter wouldn't let us move chairs around outside and said we really needed to move to a full size table inside. When we pointed out that we really wanted to keep an eye on our bikes he said, "bring them inside".

Mel's Burger Bar on 110th and Broadway, where you can't move chairs, but you can have one table for sitting, and one table for bikes.

Central Park Markings

Submitted by Sir Roger on Mon, 03/28/2016 - 9:42am

Great to hear about resurfacing in Prospect park.. now how do we get the lane markings re painted in CP.

Last year I wrote to the DOT the Park Conservancy and the Park Precinct.. I received nothing back from the city agencies.

I also posted here.

Is there an effort being made by the club in any official capacity to approach DOT etc on this issue. The lower loop is once again a complete free for all. Need we wait for someone to be seriously injured by a speeding cab before the powers that be repaint the bike lanes ??

March President's Message

Thank you Christy for your message this month.  You can never go wrong appreciating what you have (half full) vs. worrying about what you don't (have empty).  It's a perspective that is definitely needed in our world of instant information, analytics and optimization.

HNA says "WELCOME" (edited 3/28/16)

Submitted by JFinder on Sun, 03/27/2016 - 5:36pm

See this prior thread for the background:  https://nycc.org/message-board/cutting-through-ibm-palisades-ny/78637

I just rode up the HNA conference center driveway from 9W as far as the guard house. There's a large sign on the guard house that says "WELCOME."

EDITED: I've just edited this post, which may cause confusion. Sorry. A "no trespassing" sign was there as of this morning.
