4/2 B-STS Oyster Bay - Rainout, no-go, your other options

Submitted by BVan Nieuwenhoven on Fri, 04/01/2016 - 1:37pm

Due to unfortunate weather conditions predicted throughout the weekend, we are not proceeding with the B-STS Oyster Bay ride as planned. There will not be a ride tomorrow, Saturday April 2.

Members signed up for the ride (as of 1:30pm) just got an email detailing more information about alternate options for riding this weekend, so open your email to check for that notice. Everyone else - it looks to be rainy or wet through the weekend, but check the ride calendar for your other options.

Better Advocacy

Submitted by CWaaser on Thu, 03/31/2016 - 7:34pm

The President and the Board have put in place a procedure for certain members who have been doing advocacy on specific issues to continue to do that advocacy on behalf of the club in a timely manner.  Thus I was asked to submit expanded Tappan Zee Bridge comments on behalf of the club and its 2,000 members prior to the April 1 deadline.  My comments, submitted March 25, and the response from the New New York Bridge Project of the State Thruway Authority are below.  Thanks to Christy and the Board for moving this along.

RAGBRAI 2016

Submitted by mledavis on Thu, 03/31/2016 - 7:51am

Anyone here doing RAGBRAI (bike-ride-across-iowa) this year? It is my first time and I am looking for other riders to get excited with, maybe do a little Iowa-specific training with (hilly windy humid hot? does that sound right?).
