CRCA Men's and Women's Racing Clinic - Saturday, April 23rd

Submitted by MGNY on Mon, 04/18/2016 - 9:46am

NEVER RACED BEFORE AND TEMPTED TO GIVE IT A GO?

Not sure how or where to start?  Century Road Club Association, New York City’s premier road racing club, are presenting a two-lap simulated race in Central Park with separate Men's and Women's events designed to help introduce new racers to the sport.

Experienced racers will ride with the field, providing instruction, assistance and advice. Many local racers started their careers at this clinic—you can too!

Blessing of the Bikes -- Downtown edition

Submitted by cynthiabrome on Wed, 04/13/2016 - 10:26pm

My church is holding its first Blessing of the Bikes at 9 am on Saturday, April 30.

It's the Church of St. Luke in the Fields, in the West Village on Hudson St. one block south of Christopher St.  We're Episcopal, just like the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, so everyone is welcome; Bhuddists, atheists, Muslims, Jews, Wiccan, and even Christians.

Don't be late; it's a short service.  More info. here:  http://www.stlukeinthefields.org/in-the-news/post/blessing-the-bikes

It should be fun, so come on down!

The failed Tour de Trump

Submitted by RRosenthal on Tue, 04/12/2016 - 4:21am
Last night's "All In" with Chris Hayes on MSNBC had a brief reference to the failed Tour de Trump. Coincidentally, earlier in the day I sent the following to the editor of Bicycle Retailer. Oh, before you read it, let me tell you the story here, obviously told in a different way, was published in Bicycling around 1991 and before that and originally in the NYCC monthly newsletter c. 1989.
