A quickly progressing group, it seems

Noticing that over the next 2 weekends, the shortest ride posted, of any speed category is 80 miles (the next shortest is 95 miles).  Impressive progress for the groups' riding ability, seeing as it's only May.

FYI, boarding trains on weekends on the Hudson Line

Submitted by HSchiffman on Sun, 05/01/2016 - 8:57am

I'm thinking that I posted something to the same effect a few years back. If I repeat myself, so be it.

Counter to the signs up the line that point to "weekend bicycle loading areas" to the rear of the train, a lot of the time the center door bathroom cars are the first car of the train.

If you are solo or with a small group, try try to spot where the center door cars on the trains as it approaches the platform. Peekskill is ideal. If you can see only one center door car, move on the platform to its relative spot. Order your bikes in the car so that those who are getting off at 125th St are closest to the aisle. But you all know that.

Ride to Montauk (B18-A19 riders; 100 or 150 miles)?

Submitted by peter.waltman@g... on Thu, 04/28/2016 - 11:43pm

Is anyone else interested in doing the Ride to Montauk this year (May 21, 2016)? If so, would you be interested in forming a group to ride it together?

In terms of route, I've done the 150 mile route before, and would be interested in doing it again; but am not adamant about it.

In terms of pace, I'm currently in the B18 SIG, but think I could probably hold my own with A19 or A20 riders. If you have concerns about me being able to keep up with you, perhaps we can set up a time to do laps in Central (or Prospect) Park.

Got a minute to workout? (Turns out that's really all you need.)

Another column that speaks of running, not cycling, but surely shares application with cycling, talks to me as a lifelong geriatric, now two years older than last year:
