Strava iPhone App Help

Submitted by CBrown on Mon, 05/09/2016 - 9:23am

Hello 2-wheeled friends,

I've been using Strava's iPhone app with a heart rate monitor to track my rides.  Unfortunately, it's been consistently stopping recording all data within about 30 minutes after I begin.  Usually this happens somewhere on the West Side bike path, or on Riversde Drive.  The best that Strava's support people could do was suggest that I stop using the autopause feature. I complied, and nothing changed (i.e., I got the exact same result).

Anyone have a similar experience/suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

B-STS Summer Classic Ride STILL ON for Saturday 5/7

Submitted by BVan Nieuwenhoven on Fri, 05/06/2016 - 11:04pm

We are definitely meeting & riding tomorrow. The morning may bring some questions about just how the weather plays out, but the current forecast (though volatile with possible drizzles) is good enough for riding. With good luck we will be dry all day.

So, see you at 7:30a at Grand Central. Get there a bit early (10-15m) if you can

Christy Guzzetta asked me share with you the great news that earlier this week the Transportation Committee of Manhattan's Community Board 8 voted to approve three pairs of East West bike lanes in the E. 70s and 80s. The issue now goes to the full board which is set to meet on Wednesday, May 18.

Time: 6:30 pm

Location: New York Blood Center at 310 E. 67 Street.

NYT article "Buildings Get Bike Friendly"

Submitted by CWood on Fri, 05/06/2016 - 12:01pm

As for new buildings, a zoning amendment passed in 2009 requires the provision of one bike space for every two units in structures of 10 apartments or more. The law also applies to substantially enlarged buildings and to those being converted to residential use.

NYCC "takes over" the Wainwright Inn, in Great Barrington, Ma. for our special annual pilgrimage to the Berkshires for a fun weekend of riding and schmoozing over the Memorial Day weekend. I was just notified, due to a cancellation, that there is an opening in their carriage house for two single people or one couple in a room with two double beds. If you are interested in joining us at this lovely Inn, please email Chris at [email protected] Eden J. Weiss VP of Programs

Some of the times in the current Metro North timetable have changed

Submitted by HSchiffman on Wed, 05/04/2016 - 9:07pm

Our contact person at Metro North has advised me that some of the rides that have been approved for club rides are on trains whose times can be off by as much as 5 minutes.

Please check the current schedule for your ride times:
