Hi all, Wondering if anyone here has any good recommendations for cycling clubs in London. Moving there this weekend, and am dying to find something similar to NYCC out there (versus DCCs: http://www.bicyclepaper.com/articles/378 - thanks Fred!)

Here comes the Club’s annual Memorial Day weekend in the Berkshires.  It’s been going on for years and years – a wonderful tradition - the NYCC and the Berks on Memorial Day weekend.

in case of a "bike breakdown" members  & their bike get free transporation home, to a bike shop or another location (train station ?) within 10 miles.   Apparently it doesn't cover cyclist fatigue,bonking  etc.

Surprised no ones mentioned it. 

To those who went as rider or marshall...what were your thoughts on the ride and turnout this year?

It was my first time ever and was a rider marshall. The weather blew causing for wet and cold conditions. 

But all in all it was a good ride.

A few thoughts:

NEVER want to change a flat tire again...always carry at least a tube kit and pump.

why do people think they can ride forty miles with such terribly unmaintained bikes? Some bikes I had the pleasure of helping out had more rust than metal. 

For me, it would've been much more enjoyable with a crew.

clip ins...totally doable but regular pedals seem more pragmatic.

The weather forecast for tomorrow morning is awful, so we're canceling.  Hope to see you Thursday.

I don't know how to embed here, but I just saw a news clip on CBS evening news about a stalled motorcycle at the head of the race causing a terrible pileup of bikes. Saturday evening Red Hook crit.  What a picture!  Horrible.

April remarks to Port Authority on widening the GWB paths.  

Manhattan Borough President's Office and Social Cycling also spoke in support.
