From NYC to Killington (by bike)

Submitted by rpconstantino on Wed, 04/27/2016 - 9:40pm

NYCCers,

Can anyone recommend a good route from NYC to Killington, VT?  It seems that it may be as simple as 9W to Albany and then Route 4 to Killington.  However, I have no idea whether 9W has sufficient shoulder past Bear Mtn. or what Rt. 4 is like.  Any advice sent to [email protected] would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Robert

riding on a chain repaired by a 11 speed kmc link

Submitted by vorzap on Wed, 04/27/2016 - 5:41pm

Does anyone know if it's ok to ride with a chain that was repaired by a missing link? I ordered a new chain and unfortunately the package got stolen and to add insult to injury, even if I had it today all the bike shops near me have a 3 day turn around time to change the chain. I rather not miss a sig ride due to this issue but if it's a bad idea then I guess I have no choice.

I was planning to take a leisurely ride with my daughter this Sunday, part in Central Park and part some other areas in Manhattan and part of my planned route is where the 5B rides.  Does anyone know what the deal is with this?

Thanks for any insight

Look above Doodletown on this 1778-9 (or 1750?) Robert Erskine map of the region, in circle written in script:

Berkshires Weekend Baggage Transport

Submitted by Margaret Kim on Tue, 04/26/2016 - 7:17pm

If anyone is in need of baggage transport, I'll be driving up on Friday evening from the UWS.  I expect to arrive between 9-10pm.  If you won't need your bag until then, drop it off Thursday evening at my place and I'll be happy to bring it up for you.  I'll be staying at the Lantern House in Great Barrington so we can arrange a mutual meeting place for pick up depending on where everyone is staying.

Bike Trip - Denmark

Submitted by Brie on Tue, 04/26/2016 - 4:24pm

Hello -

I'd like to go with my kids (age 11 and 15) on a bike trip in Denmark.  They both know how to ride, but couldn't do anything too rigorous.  I know there are lots of self-guided tours, but I'm interested in a guided tour.  Nothing fancy; even camping is fine.  Anyone out there been riding in Denmark and have any recommendations?

Thanks

Brie
