Road Trip--Looking for Bike Packing Tips
Hi!
I've got a road trip planned with some friends, and I'm trying to figure out how to unobstructively bring my bike along. This is something I've never done before, so I'm looking for tips. We'll be renting a mini-van to head to NH at the end of July into the start of August. My options as I can figure them out so far:
1) Buy/rent/borrow a rack for the back of the van. Hope it fits on the rental (we don't have a exact make/model), and hope I can rig it up well enough to hold for the hours of highway driving to get there. I have no experience with car bike racks, so no clue if this is an easy or difficult process.
Peekamoose.
If you haven't done this ride I reccomend taking driving up to New Paltz and parking your car on Main Street or taking the train to Poughkeepsie. Never has there been a more scenic ride with more beautiful scenery. Plus they finally paved Berne Road(sort of). Very reccomended ride and very few cars and stop-lights. I do this ride 3-4 times between late spring and early fall. Better scenery than most European bike trips too!

Nyack B16 ride start time moved from 9:00 to 8:00
I moved the start time to 8:00 AM to give is time to get in a decent ride and miss (hopefully) the rain. This will get us to Tappan around 11:00 and we should be able to decide then whether it's good to go for Nyack as promised or to cut it short either to Piermont or The Market on 9W. I still advise bringing a rain jacket and fenders if you have them.

Hi All,
Due to rain in the forecast for Saturday, we will do a quick spin to the market for breakfast, starting at Grants Tomb tomorrow morning.
Check the listing for current and future modifications. We will do the Peekskill ride at a later date as soon as we decide what that is.

Citibike
Does anyone compute by Citibike from the Upper East Side to Midtown, and if so, what is it like?
Weather discussion for Saturday
Saturday is a big day for our spring training series with lots of train rides scheduled. With 3 days to go (I'm writing this at 9:30 am), there is a system over Texas on the gulf that is supposed to morph into a significant rain event as it chugs up the east coast; timing will be everything.
Weatherunderground has a total of 1.6" of rain forecast for our area with this event, with a greater than 50% chance hitting at noon. Accuweather shows it coming later in the afternoon, around 2. Over the last day, the time of arrival has been moving up, earlier in the day.
