Campaign for Bike Lanes on the Upper East Side Continues, Wednesday, March 16 - Come Out and Help Get Bike Lanes for All
The campaign to get bicycle lanes going East West on the upper east side continues at the next Community Board 8 meeting
When: Wednesday, March 16 at 6:30
Where: Ramaz School, 125 E. 85 St. (between Park and Lex)
At the last meeting, anti-bike lane advocates filled the room. I heard only two NYCC regulars--Erica Jacobs and yours truly--speak for the lanes. Bike lanes are important to amass a growing group of cyclists in the neighborhood. All the evidence shows that safety comes with numbers. More cyclists on the road increase safety for all of us. Even if you are a longtime cyclist with great handling skills and feel you do not need a bike lane, you too will benefit from the cycling community it will help grow.
Looking to buy used women's size 42 cycling shoes
Hi, I'm new to the club and need inexpensive shoes! Does anyone have any they'd like to sell? Thanks!
South Nyack Police
I received a ticket yesterday while riding between Piermont and Nyack.
The officer who gave me the ticket indicated that it was because I had impeded traffic - I had passed a slower cyclist while the officer was coming up behind me in his patrol car. Has anyone ever heard of getting a ticket for something like this?
I had glanced over my shoulder before pulling around the slower cyclist and I really don't think that I slowed him down at all - I was moving at a good clip. The officer didn't appear to be going anywhere in particular and didn't have his lights/siren on or anything like that... I actually saw him again about a mile down the road pull over another cyclist.
Oops. Lance wins again.
Superb service from Bicycle Workshop in Tenafly
I had an unpleasant mechanical problem on the way home from today's B-SIG ride to Westwood NJ. While riding along on Dean Street my rear defailleur literally fell apart. With the help of my B-SIG Cheetah friends, I got the bike to BIcycle Workshop and they were able to replace my SRAM Force 10-Speed Derailleur (an old model) and my chain (which had bent side plates that might have contributed to the problem), checked out my entire drivetrain and trued my rear wheel, all in less than an hour and at a very fair price.

" Take, for instance, the Port Authority's reluctance to expand the GWB pathway."
From what I read, the NYCC Board is comfortable with the status quo. But it is an issue that a number of the members are passionate about. As the Message Board is an open forum to it's members, I would like to take another stab at influencing the powers that be to reconsider their stance.
