Charity Ride Tips

Submitted by MHanson on Tue, 11/30/2010 - 5:47pm

Does anyone have advice on entering an organized ride as a charity? My friends and I have a charity that we run and were thinking that entering a century (a la Team In Training) would be a fun way to fund-raise next year. If anyone has done this and has tips on what all we should consider logistics wise, it would be greatly appreciated. What kind of responsibility for participants would we have to take on? What kind of support throughout the ride? Etc.

The "I Lied About SI" Ride - Sunday, December 5th

Submitted by MTownsend on Tue, 11/30/2010 - 5:17pm

Look I wasn't lying when I said that our last ride on Staten Island was going to be our last ride of the season. That's what the plan was but then someone e-mailed me asking me when we're going to host another one and when I looked at the long range weather forecast for Sunday(high of 44 degrees!) I thought "Why the heck not?".

So with that in mind we're heading back to SI one more time. This route is going to be a little longer than the SI Merit Badge Ride and it's going to have more climbing as well. We'll have short climbs like Theresa Place and we'll have longer climbs up Douglas Road but what we won't have is Oakland Terrace. :-(

FS: wooden indoor rack for two bikes

Submitted by MCasey on Mon, 11/29/2010 - 5:32pm

Solid wood indoor bike rack leans against wall and keeps two bikes safely out of the way. No drilling required. Dissembles easily for transport, or take it away ready to install. Asking $40. View images here.

accident study link ?

Submitted by JCaesar on Mon, 11/29/2010 - 3:04pm

There used to be a link on the nycc site for an accident study - where folks were asked to input info on any bike accident they were in (time, place, various other info), to be used for a safety study .

Is that study still going on / link still up ?

A friend of mine is compiling a "post accident" to do list, I would like to include this link if it is still applicable.

thanks.
