Hudson Greenway

Submitted by Alfred Ling on Wed, 01/20/2021 - 10:48am

Riding on MLK Day I was pleasantly surpirsed to find that the Hudson Greeway is reopened from 100th to 125th Street.  Many of the root bumps have been removed and the path repaved.

Many club members would know Diane from her time riding with NYCC. She eventually moved back to the E.U. settling in Correze, France and opening DBest Cycling - https://www.dbestcycling.com/. Many club and CRCA members attended her special events and cycling holidays. From what little info I have, she had a tragic car accident on icy roads.

bikes on MetroNorth RR

I don't see anything recent on the NYCC site re: bikes on MNR.  The MNR website says schedules will have bike icons, but I don't see any.  Can I bring my bike back (using a bike pass) from Peekskill to NYC/GCS next Saturday?

Bringing your own lunch is encouraged.  We will eat very fast, keep moving, and cut 5 miles off if time grows short.

I’m pretty sure I was assaulted quite violently on 9W today.  I don’t want to jump to conclusions as to what occurred as I have no visual proof, just deduction, but for the minutes after the incident I was certain it was intentional assault as I could think of no other explanation.  I was coming back on 9W having completed River Road north, and I was on that first lengthy decline after getting on 9W from RR.  So I was going about 25mph down that decline, when a car passed going probably 50 to 55 mph and an object hit me hard on the side—around the hip region on my left side.  It was a very heavy hit—akin to a strong leg kicking you in the side as hard as they could, and from a large object, not a stone or a rock, and I screamed in pain and q

In case you missed it, if you're 75 or older or a teacher, first responder or transit worker, you can now get your COVID vaccination shot. If you live in NYC, go to https://vaccinefinder.nyc.gov/, enter your zip code and find a location near you. If you live elsewhere in NY State, go to https://am-i-eligible.covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/ and start the process.
