SIG 2021?

Submitted by neil_e_whitfiel... on Sun, 12/27/2020 - 7:31pm

So after the cruelty of doing the B-SIG orientation only for *the horror* to start before the first ride... does anyone know if the club is planning to run the SIGs in spring 2020?

And if so, will the SIGers from 2020 get first refusal or will it be a total do-over?

Thanks for any insight and replies, and apologies if i've duplicated a thread.

Happy holidays all!

Getting zip ties taut, no special tools?

Submitted by isaacb on Sun, 12/27/2020 - 12:41am

I'm trying to mount an old-school wired computer & struggling to get the zip ties taut (to fasten the head unit to the stem.)

There's a special zip tie tool, which I don't have. I've seen recommendations to use a "fourth hand" cable tool, which I also don't have.

Any recommendations on how to do this?

Thanks

My Christmas & New Year's greeting to the club.

GFNY for Level B/C riders

Submitted by Craig V on Thu, 12/24/2020 - 11:44am

Curious to hear if others who are B/C level have competed and completed the GFNY. I would love to train with others for the May 16, 2021 GFNY race who can do A level speeds down hills but prefer to granny gear it up hills over a 100 mile course. Totally up for a race to beat the ten hour cutoff. In my age group 50-54 m-f I see that participants in 2018 completed the course over ten hours and still appear on the finisher board. Would love to hear from others who want to begin training in 2021 with rides, nutrition prep, and anything else that will make the day fun and memorable.

BIKES ON AMTRAK - NEW YORK STATE

New York State with a Bike & By Train

By Harvey Botzman

NYBC announced “Amtrak’s Carry-On Bicycle Service” is now available on all Empire Service and Maple Leaf trains traversing New York State.  The NYBC’s representative to the Amtrak/Adventure Cycling Association Bicycle Task Force, has worked for many years to achieve this bicycling infrastructure on Amtrak’s New York State trains. No longer is there a need to drive a car to a start location along the “lateral line” of Amtrak & the Erie Canalway/Empire State Trail when bicycle touring. Hurrah!
