Bike fit after cervical surgery
Hi all.
6 weeks after surgery I have been cleared to get back on the bike by my doctor, but oy!
It is new and ever more painful world than before.
I am definitely going to need to extremely upright in the short term, (think ape hanger handelbars), and probaly somewhat more so in the longer term.
Has anyone in club had experience with with making adjustments to a road bike to accomodate fused portion of the neck that needs to be somewhat of pretezel when riding in the drops?
And to think I was just last fall finally learning how comfortable being in the drops was.
Does anyone know a mechanic that has experience making adjustments to a road bike to accomodate this issue?
Are the Central Park morning laps coming back soon? The weather is starting to get nicer out there...
I just renewed my membership and I plan to be a more active member this time... Particularly interested on the early morning group rides around Central Park on weekdays... Looking forward to riding with you soon! I'll wait for the organized rides to show up.

Bike computer recommendation
I am looking for recommendations for a new bike computer. My last one, many years ago, was a first-generation Garmin. I need speed, distance, cadence and heartrate. What's good out there these days?
Jerry Ross’ C-STS Schedule of Rides for 2021
Marc Simkin and I will be leading the following series of STS-style rides. The rides will be posted on the ride listings page, https://nycc.org/upcoming-rides, approximately two weeks in advance of the ride date. The number of riders is limited to 8 riders, conforming with our NYCC Covid precautions. Masks will have to be pulled up any time we are riding or resting near other people (e.g., on the George Washington or Mario Cuomo bridges, pit and meal stops, helping with an accident or mechanical issue). The pace will be C14, which as everyone should know is the cruising speed on flat terrain with no wind. Of course. that means we will rarely ride at precisely 14 mph because there is no such thing as flat terrain and no wind.
Looking to borrow a bike case in September
I have a bike trip to Bali in mid-September and need to transport my bike.
I'm leaving around Sept 18th and returning around September 30. I live on the Upper West Side.
If you have a case and would be willing to lend it to me, I would appreciate it (and treat you to dinner - which hopefully will be possible by then).
I can be reached at [email protected], or 917-881-8439.
Looking for an Allez Sprint to try out
Hey yall, has anyone spotted an allez sprint in a store around NYC in size 56 or 58? Going to be putting in a little bit of money to have a nice bike for the next couple years of grad school, and the person im purchasing from is unfortunately on the other side of the country. Other option i suppose is going to a place with retul, but hopefully someone here has word on store availability.
The terrible, awful, dreadful, ineluctable aging of our club continues unabated.
Bob Schmon is 70 today.
