A Big Thanks to Piermont Bike Shop and Greg.
I am one of the A19 SIG leaders and on one of our recent rides we encountered a 'miriad of mechanicals' (Clyde Frazier).
It started with five flats but it wouldn't put a damper on the day as our group was terrific and we all gelled. Then we had a chain snap about a mile short of Piermont whilst returning from Nyack. The leaders pushed the rider to Piermont Bike Shop.

Braking dominantly with the front brake...
This flies in the face of all I was taught, but makes a whole lot of sense. I'll be practicing this week. ;] It is an interesting read, at the least.
Best placement for toughest tire?
On the second ride(!!!) on my brand new tires, the front has a cut that goes all the way through the vectran belt. Hopefully Conrad's will warranty it. We shall see...
If they will not warranty the 4000s, I am going to buy a GP4season.
Does anyone have any suggestion for its placement? Front or back for the toughest tire? I'm unable to spend on a matching set so soon (4 days or so!) after buying a new pair 4000s's, and want to make sure to maximize tire life.
annie, my guardian angel
Yesterday afternoon I took a nasty dive on the Hudson Greenway. This was probably between 90th and 125th streets and around 4:00, but I had a concussion and don't remember the accident. I also don't remember the person who helped me, though I do know her first name, Annie, because she called my parents (using my phone). Not only did Annie get me an ambulance, she rode with me to the hospital and even rescued my bike! But she was gone before I regained consciousness. I would like to get in touch with her to express my gratitude, so if anyone heard this story somewhere or happens to know Annie, please let me know. Obviously, I really owe her.
Best,
Zack
