Delivery guys don't like to get passed?
Both yesterday and today I had run ins with what looked like delivery guys.
last night riding up 6th on the left hand side of the road I passed a fellow on his right. When I slowed a bit on the uphill he came up on my right then cut close across me to make a LH turn.
This morning riding down 5th on the RHS I passed a guy on his left. He then came up on my left and cut into the parked cars - seemingly intentionally overlapping my front wheel. If not for the SIG skills I have been honing I might have crashed ;-)
Anyone experience anything similar?
Metro North - Off to Good Start
The A-19 SIG braved the elements on Saturday - but unfortunately most of us were overwhelmed by the rain/wind on our return trip and had to take Metro North back.
My group of about 9 -made it to Tarrytown (around 4:00) just as the train was pulling in station --don't believe they were warned ahead of time a bunch of crazy cyclists might be on trains - but they were most accomodating. One conductor was very friendly- nicely asked us to move to last car- which was empty - and joked around with us. Even with Yankee game crowd coming on at Stadium stop - everything ran very smoothly--
Believe club has a liasion with Metro North? Worth it to send word of appreciation?

A shout out to Ken Weissman ...
... for generously offering Usual Suspects space on the Metro North otherwise reserved for his North County Ride.
Much appreciated!
Now back to our regular scheduled program

A Most Adventurous Cycling Event
Ok New York. It's time to get out of your Boroughs to get a taste of the great outdoors. No taxi cabs, no delivery vehicles, and most of all no baby stollers or tickets in Central Park.
The Yellowstone CycleFest takes placeJuly 23-30 in West Yellowstone, Montana. This week-long cycling adventure is for anyone who enjoys an action packed vacation and the chance to get ‘up close and personal’ with one of the most unique ecosystems in North America. In addition to daily road biking, the festival will offer a host of exciting activities including white water rafting, mountain biking, canoeing, hiking, horseback riding, and America’s hottest new sport, water cycling.

Bike Component Theft in Downtown Brooklyn
I rode my bike to work on Friday, the first time all year, and was rewarded with getting my handlbars, brake levers, disc brake calipers, etc all stolen:
This is on Jay street, with constant foot, motor and bike traffic. I parked on this block for years with no problem when my work had a bike rack; now the buildings got a construction barrier and they got me right away.
Talking to the Police and some of my colleagues, it seems this is a big problem in the area. They didn't cut my lock, but they skillfully disassembled the stuff they wanted. My colleague got his headset and bottom bracket stolen.
