What's with those horrible lights in the 60's?
Are they there to induce seizures as we ride by? Bright blinking white, yellow, red lights not in any particular order or spacing. It feels a landing strip for little airplanes, (with an occasional bike flying by in the opposite direction).
Wednesday's Ride Leader Training seminar
Wednesday night's amazingly informative Ride Leader Training seminar for siggies played to a full house.
For staging this great event, thanks to VP Rides, Adrienne Browning, to B SIG Coordinator, Wayne Wright, and to Linda Wintner and Paul Hoffherr, developers of the NYCC Ride Leader Training initiative.
Thanks also to REI for hosting in the new Community Room at the Soho store.
Are you a ride leader in waiting? Stay tuned for more from our developing program.
New bike lanes in Prospect Park
The new lanes are awesome along the lower east side of the park. Perhaps they'll do the whole park. Check them out
Hammer anti fatigue caps
Hi. Has anyone tried these or similar? Thanks

Footage run includes double pace lining, replacement of flat and sprint to the fini, amidst rainy conditions. Video clip is part of a weekly newsprogram called Inside Africa. Host Erol Barnet is able to keep up with the racers somewhat.

This link has article written by Barnet on the Rwandan cyclists, who are survivors of their country's horrible civil war and are part of a national racing team trying for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Includes photos with mention of the country's unique wooden bikes. Recommended and inspirational reading.

Larry of Larry and Jefff's new shop
Larry, of the former Larry and Jeff’s on 2nd Avenue at 87th Street, is opening his new shop on 110th Street between CPW and Manhattan Ave. He said he would be open from 12 noon to 6 PM this Saturday and Sunday. I guess he’s not quite ready for full blown business, but it’s good to have him back.
Tarrytown and Greenways Thursday 4/12
I'm taking the day off tomorrow and going for a ride. The intent is to work more on speed than climbing this time so the route is pretty easy on the elevation gain. I've listed the ride as B-17+. I can step that up to 18 or possibly even 19 if all participants are interested and agree at the start.
Sign up for Tarrytown and Greenways . Most of the ride is on one greenway or another. Those who sign up electronically are welcome to arrange to meet me uptown.
I intend to return back to the start around 2 PM.
