To clip or not to clip?

Submitted by NBorden on Tue, 04/10/2012 - 5:41pm

I'm in the Medicare generation and just went clipless. Am I doing

the  right thing?   MY  LBS sold me a pair of Shimano platform pedals,

I spent about 20 minutes on the rollers in the store and then

headed to Central Park the next day. I rode in circles around a patch of grass for about 30 minutes,

clipping in and out and fell three times...no damage. Rode home

via my usual route thru Times Square using the platform side of the

pedals.    Then I read a thread in a bike forum and suddenly,

it feels like COLD FEET. no pun intended.  My question:  How long

should it take to feel safe riding clipless ?   Are the risks worth it. I'm used to

Hi all,

I have two traditional Italian chromoly road frames and am looking for a quality finisher. Does anyone have a recommendation for a great painter?

Many thanks,

Rendell

Tonight's NYCC Meeting - the raffle will begin a little earlier

Submitted by EWeiss on Tue, 04/10/2012 - 10:44am

Hi All,

The raffle will begin a little earlier at tonight's NYCC meeting, due to amount of time needed to call out the 33 winners, who will win the 80 Rudy Project and Oakley items (highlighted by two pairs of Rudy Project sunglasses and two Oakley back packs). We will begin the raffle at about 7:00PM, with the program beginning no later than 7:30 PM. I apologize for the late notification and any inconvenience that this may have caused you. I hope to see you night, as the program and the raffle should prove to be memorable.

RIDE LEADERS NEEDED FOR THE BERKSHIRES WEEKEND

Submitted by abrowning on Tue, 04/10/2012 - 9:39am

Hi everyone-

We are looking for ride leaders for each day:  Friday (ride up), Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (ride back).

Bill Laffey is coordinating the rides this year.  He has cue sheets for all sorts of options-  let's get some different rides listed for this year's Memorial Day weekend.  Ask a friend to co-lead a ride with you, pick an interesting route, and away we go!

All you need to do is email Bill and volunteer.  He'll send you theset of cue sheets and let you know what is already on the agenda.

[email protected]

Many thanks in advance

River Road Sunday April 15?

Submitted by ac2go on Mon, 04/09/2012 - 4:50pm

I'm a B16 rider, and will be missing the Saturday, April 14 ride. Have to make up the miles, considering doing River Road. (I rode it for the first time this past weekend and it didn't kill me, so I thought I'd give it another go.)

Looking for someone to come with! Alison— [email protected]
