LIGHTWEIGHT TIGHTS
Anyone know where I can get them--thickness=to summer biking shorts appropriate for this time of year or early October.Perhaps they don't make them anymore. I have leg warmers--either they are too tight or keep falling and need safety pins to stay. I am so desperate I would buy used ones in good condition M or L.
How often to go bike shop for a full tune up?
My bike is fairly new, 3 year old, had a full tune up in 2010 summer. I lubricate it regularly. Had wheeled centered last summer.
Do I need to send for a full tune up now? I ride a long ride on wkd and try to get one ride during the week , riding from April to oct .
Thanks in advance!

Tested models are in the $3-40 range.

Absent are the Dinotte line which start at $119 (sometimes on sale without accessories for $99). These are essentially their basic AA battery front lights, but with a red LED.

Was once caught on a fast road after dark with a "Brand X". Ordered the Dinotte next day. Run them "solid" at the lowest setting.
Haven't looked back ...
Last Minute C for Sunday, 4/8.
We're tired of running back and forth to Nyack, the local rail trails, and most of the around-NYC routes we know, so we're planning to take MN's 8:47/8 train from GCT to Goldens Bridge for 38-50 Touring-paced miles.
Starting at the intersection of Rt 22 and Rt 138, we'll follow Increase Miller, Todd, 121, Mills, circle the Titicus Reservoir, North again on 121 to a Banana/snack break atop Vail. Then, Wallace and Ledges around the mountain--more horse farms--followed by heading South on North St to an indoor/outdoor lunch in Ridgefield, CT. After-lunch--sorry, making this stuff up as I go along--we'll probably take West, Elmwood, Conant Valley, and Oenoke Ridge to our New Caanan break, then Hollow Tree Ridge, etc. to a MN return from Darien.
STS #6 For Those skipping Saturday - riding on Sunday
For those - like myself - who aren't interested in getting up at the crack of dawn to make a 7:48 train after a possibly late night with friends and family at a Seder on Friday evening, I'm providing an alternative by doing the same ride on Sunday, however at a later (more humane, IMHO) starting time. I will be taking the 9:48 out of GCT (I will actually be boarding at 125th at 09:58), which arrives in North White Plains at 10:21. This is about a 5 hour ride, so finishing at a still reasonable 3-4pm is well within reach. I suggest picking up either the Garmin file that DRosenthal posted on the MB earlier or downloading the cue sheet from the web listing if you want to do the ride. This way you'll be all set if I am either slower (more likely) or faster than you are.
April 15th B17 Charity Ride for Breast Cancer
Tour de Cause
April 15, 2012
A bike ride and small grassroots effort to raise money for women and their families fighting breast cancer.
In 2012, I have committed myself to raising $14,060 for Sharsheret to honor Tammy Bryk, a beloved client and friend who told me about this fantastic organization supporting young Jewish women and their families who are facing breast cancer.
Through a series of fundraisers, that is how I am going to reach my goal. Please join me for a special Bike ride organized with my friend Rod Ciardullo.
Thank you,
Joel Matalon

NYPD to begin tracking bike accidents...but wait, with pedestrians, not with cars?

Bikes on Trains on Easter
Can a group take bikes on metro north trains on easter? I recall that one can't for some holidays like Labor Day.
