Barbara Julich

Barbara Julich one time member and Board Member died early this morning at DeWitt Nursing Home in Manhattan.  There are no survivors and no other details available.

Ed Fishkin, Dr. Ed, is having hip surgery Tuesday.

Not that I, of all people, am the arbiter and practitioner of what is nice, but it would be nice if his friends wrote a note here of good wishes and encouragement.

Here is a note from him, not that he knows I am putting it here, which I do to inform you where he will be if the spirit moves you to visit him:

The rottenest excuse for endangering a cyclist you'll ever hear.

...So there I am in the bike lane on First Ave., around 69th St. I'm stopped at a red light. A cab is next to me on my right. (The bike lane is on the far left.) I'm going straight. He doesn't have his turn signal on. But I have a feel for these things.

Me: You're not turning, are you?

Cab: Why?

Me: Just asking. You can't be. Your turn signal isn't on. Are you turning?

Cabbie: Yeah.

Me: Oh, your turn signal's broken.

Cabbie: It's not broken.

Me: It's not on.

Cabbie: I'm saving my battery.

Need I add more was said? I have many failings. Among the greatest is my not getting cab numbers and reporting the drivers.

Hi,

I am doing a research on competitive and recreational cycling. I am exploring the lifestyles, motivations and cycling habits of cyclists of all levels and abilities in order to develop innovative cycling training plans.

Each participant in the survey has the chance to win one of our gift certificates worth $150 which can be used to purchase cycling apparel like clothing, helmets, eyewear, etc. at www.ekoistore.com

FOBO ride Thurs., 2/21

Submitted by CGuzzetta on Wed, 02/20/2013 - 2:22pm

Predictions call for very cold temps Thurs morning.  Mary and I have made a unanimous decision that it's too cold for us to lead  the FOBO ride tomorrow morning.  We won't be there.  If you want to ride - tell your friends - dress warm - and have fun.

Please don't post videos without a meaningful subject line.

Submitted by JFinder on Wed, 02/20/2013 - 2:05pm

Please don't waste my (and others') time with videos posted blind, without a meaningful subject line.

Since you deserve my respect as a fellow club member, I want to hear what you have to say about cycling, so I click your link, but the linked video has little or nothing to do with the subject line.

(Since I don't want to be banned from the Message Board, I've deleted the impulsive retaliatory rick-rolls that I inserted in some threads.  I apologize for any inconvenience.)
