Events off the bike
Hi all,
Just want to invite you to the Closing Party for the Lemond Exhibition at the Rapha Cycle Club NYC! The exhibit has been up for almost a month now and will come down this Sunday. To celebrate LeMond and his successes we will have one final party this Friday, March 14 from 7-9pm.
On behalf of the Rapha Cycle Club I also want to extend a sincere apology regarding the name of the club when we first opened. I hope there are no hard feelings. Did I mention there will be free beer? :)

A couple "gravity" routes posted to the Library
Roads are thawing-drying as we speak but I thought I'd post a couple of 100' per mile "gravity" cues for those who need to get in a hill regimen ... particularly when the GWB is closed off.
The freshly posted Illington, a 50 mile/5000' loop out of White Plains thru Pleasantville, Croton Harmon and Armonk. 30 minutes from Grand Central and you can bail halfway at Croton Harmon. Frequent trains from both points at all times.
B16 - Thursday 6am morning laps canceled
Due to the fact that I don't want to ride in a wind chill of 10 degrees. Hope to see you next week.
seat post mounted rack on carbon stem
Im going to take a 3 day trip on my road bike. I want to attach a stem mounted rack to carry a change of clothes etc. I'm concerned that the clamp may damage the post. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Sturmey Archer 3 Speed Mechanic
Hi All,
I'm looking for a machanic who is good with Strumey Archer 3-Speed hubs. They're very finicky and I don't trust most mechanics to repair them. There's a guy named Moi over at Bicycycel Renaissance who's great (He's there two days a week). Unfortuantly I'd rather stick rusty nails in my eyes rather than deal with that bike shop again. Can anyone recommend a mechanic I might try?
Thanks in advance.
Jon

Bruce Weber reads from his new book on his 2011 x-country ride, in Brooklyn, Tues eve, 3/18
NY Times reporter Bruce Weber will read from, and sign, his brand-new book, "Life Is a Wheel: Love, Death, Etc., and a Bike Ride Across America," Tuesday evening, March 18, at Book Court, 163 Court Street (just south of Pacific St, in Cobble Hill), at 7 pm.
Like me, some of you know Bruce from his superb 1990s reportage and first-person pieces for the Times on NYC utilitiarian and recreational cycling, and his current scintillating work on the paper's obit desk. You may have followed his real-time blog posts for the Times on his 2011 trip, which was his second coast-to-coast ride. He's an evocative and thoughtful writer and a good guy.
