Cars spilling over into cyclists lane on Central Park Drive & 90 Street
Deputy Inspector Jessica Corey, Commanding Officer, Central Park Precinct, reported to me on the problem of cars spilling over into the cyclists lane on the East Park Drive just south of Engineer's Gate at East 90 Street.
The problem turned out to be a set of mis-timed traffic lights.
Normally, a motorist is supposed to get two "greens" in succession. One to go head north on Park Drive ...
... and a second when exiting the Park to proceed east on 90th Street or south onto 5th Avenue.
Lights Out on N.E. Central Park Drive
I ride laps in Central Park at night. For several weeks, several street lights have been out in the North East quadrant of Central Park Drive. It creates a dangerous condition for cyclists, since you literally can't see what's on the road in front of you.
I've submited a complaint at nyc.gov/311. It might speed things along if other people submitted complaints.
Bridge’s Neighbors Fight Bike Path on Tappan Zee - NYT
SOUTH NYACK, N.Y. — It seems like a generous gift to the people of New York State: a three-mile path for bicyclists and pedestrians stretching across the silvery waters of the Hudson River on a new Tappan Zee Bridge.
But many of the residents of South Nyack, at the western end of the bridge, don’t want this gift to land on their doorsteps. At a sometimes raucous meeting on Thursday night at Nyack College overlooking the bridge and attended by a representative of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, residents said the path would invite scores of cars with bike racks scrambling for parking to their tidy streets lined with Victorian houses, would draw food trucks and would unsettle a quiet family neighborhood.

Nyack Eating News
A large gourmet shop aptly named "Playhouse" has opened in the old Helen Hayes Theatre space on Broadway about 2 blocks south of Main. It features signature sandwiches, pizza, nice baked goods, etc. It has a large bar, much table seating and 3 bathrooms. Isaac, the owner or manager has promised outdoor tables, bike racks, energy bars and drinks, etc. Cafe Toga has opened in the Toga Bike Shop on 9W in Upper Nyack. Free goodies until April 1.
Putnam Classic
Has anybody any input on this? They haven't posted the courses yet but Putnam looks pretty hilly.
I have hardly done a lick of cycling this year but would like to try the century. Seven weeks to go.

Shimano and SRAM Brifters
Can you repair/rebuild them? For Shimano, at least, the answer used to be no, but maybe that's changed?
