Does anybody have an alternative to Riverside Drive as a route to the GWB?

The drive is in such bad shape heading up there after work in rush hour traffic is not a pleasant experience. Is Morningside or Amsterdam any better?

If you have reliable first-hand information about changes or other places you can let me know - I will at one point update this list but for now, this should help everyone in need of a "real bike" rental.

The buckle on the left shoe of my Sidi Dominator 3 has developed a release problem over the past year. I procrastinated as long as I could. Now I have to loosen it as far as it can go, then slip the shoe off my foot. To release the plastic toothed strap I need to slip a knife blade between buckle and teeth, then slide the strap out. 

I used an emory board to sharpen up the deformed teeth: no change.

I swapped the buckle with one from an old pair that worked: no change.

I returned the buckle back to the shoe closed it, then opened it with the strap from the old shoe: it worked.

BMW USA Announces New Feature

In a release today, BMW's United States headquarters announced a beta test of a new feature.

The section of River Road just south of Nyack where the road passes under I-87 adjacent to the Tappan Zee Bridge is dangerously narrow and blind.

There is lots of construction on both sides of the road, a rough road everywhere and the more than occassional jerk in a car who can't wait to get around us.

In the listing the person talks about Racing.. I have emailed them to see if they are running un sanctioned races. This is troubling and could have a negative effect on many of us.

Anyone know anything about this. ??

Is your idea of a commuter bike the one with the 10 speed super record rather than the 11? Insist custom is the best way to go? This is a day for you. 

Parlee for those that don't know is a Mass based manufacturer of largely Carbon roadbikes known for their custom frames and high quality. Or in the words of Ferris Bueller "It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up." 

I have a friend coming to NYC in a few weeks. He is an avid cyclist and would like to do a ride or two while here. Does anyone know of an LBS or other business that rents higher end bicycles by the day?
