Help with ENY refund?
Hey all, Does anyone have a contact with the ENY organizers? Sadly, I have to cancel my ride due to work travel. I bought the insurance to cover this possibility but am frustrated -- if not surprised -- to find the claims process with ACTIVE Refund Endurance is a mystery, and despite emailing, they have not been responsive. Thanks for your help, Adam
Labor Day CP Crash: was it you?
I just received word from a friend of some 50 years that his wife was hit in Central Park by a cyclist in NYCC kit on Labor Day. Was it you? David (my friend) apparently gave you his details in the expectation that you would contact him, but you have not done so to date. This is disappointing, to say the least. Pat (David's wife) suffered multiple fractures to her right arm from the accident and underwent a five hour surgery. Doctors are doubtful she will recover full use of her right arm. I think it is incumbent on all of us to take responsibility for our own actions, including those undertaken on a bicycle. Whoever you are, I would urge you to get in touch with David ASAP and do what you can to make this right.

Happy birthday, Madame President
I wanted to very publicly wish Leora Rosenberg, NYCC President, SIG leader, steady wheel and even steadier girlfriend, the happiest of birthdays. Today, NYCC no longer has an under-30 president; instead, a president whose wisdom is hard earned from three whole decades of experience.
For her birthday, if you can, please donate to her fundraiser raising money to fight cancer. She would never ask this of her own club, but I have no such shame.

The curious case of my Garmin 520+ getting more battery life after so many recharging cycles
I'm thinking my 520+ is in its 4th year. As time passed, it got less and less battery life. Rather than buy a replacement (waiting for substantial improvements in future models) I bought an external charger that I can hook up and ride with for longer rides.
But, I have noticed improved battery life these past few months. It this real? If so, could this be due to improvements in firmware?
Has anyone else noticed this?
Transferring Files to Your Garmin
Not sure if you are aware, but Garmin highly recommends us to transfer files from RideWithGPS to our head unit via Garmin Connect. Less to go wrong and should not corrupt the Garmin as mine was. I had to delete my Courses and NewFile directories to fix it. You would need to save the course to your account first. I am not sure if you need to then download/pin the course on your phone too.
Follow the steps below to send a course from the Garmin Connect app on your phone to a compatible Garmin fitness device.
A shout-out to a Strictly mechanic.
New York's preeminent bike mechanic (don't ask me who) was able to make only a partial, and therefore not completely useable repair. CJ, at Strictly (Ft. Lee) fixed the problem. (It's not one you've ever had.) He fixed it completely. The bike can be ridden again just as the two wheeled gods intended. He fixed it in :30. That's thirty seconds. Maybe it's just that he had a tool I didn't have and master NYC mechanic didn't think to use.
Wrapping the tops of the handlebars.
First, wrap the tops only. Then, a full wrap from the ends up so there’s a double layer on the tops. But where to start, just above or just below the brake levers?
