Many, many thanks after a big weekend
This weekend was an eventful weekend for the club, with three extraordinary programs and many volunteers who made it all happen. I want to thank so many of you:
Serious 16 Rider
I used to be a B17 rider and really enjoyed riding with serious riders that pace line and were focused. Now that I am older I tend to be a 16 rider which is ok however I find other 16 riders to be much more cassual with no interest in pace line etc. Other than getting stronger or riding by my self I can't seem to find the right group?
Flat-resistant tires?
What do you like and why do you like them? Clinchers, 700c please.
Progress on Piermont-Nyack River Road construction
The sidewalk is completed and hopefully the road will completed with the next 2-3 weeks
Thank you to everyone involved in ENY 2022
Thank you so much to every single person who was involved in this year's event. As a participant, I was blown away at the amazing route (except for those first two WHOPPER HILLS! Why, ENY route planners? WHY????) The scenery was amazing. The road quality, unmatched. The rest stops were fantastic and the volunteers helpful (and attractive!) The jersey design is adorbs. Even the weather was perfect. Every single thing made me fall in love all over again with NYCC. THANK YOU!!!
Rider ethics or "what's the point of registering?"
A local environmental advocacy organization is sponsoring a ride in the coming weeks. I'm interested in cycling the area and would prefer to do it when there are other cyclists around. The advocacy group has farmed out the event to a vendor who does many events. For my $60, I get:
I've been in the club 42 years. There has never been a 1-day route like this!
130 miles in a day is unusual but not enough to be remarkable. But 13,000 ft. of climbing in a day??!!! With 65 miles of the 130 on unpaved roads? Nothing close to it.....!
Thank you for an outstanding Escape New York
Many thanks to all of the Escape New York volunteers who made yesterday such a treat! I spent the day at the rest stop in Montvale, and so many of the riders that came through shared with us how much fun they were having on the ride. We heard all about the beautiful routes, the delicious pickles, and the joy of being on the road together.

Closure of Croton Dam Walkway to Peds and Bikes (From NYC DEP)
The recent drawdown of the New Croton Reservoir that started September 6, 2022, leading the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to issue an advisory against recreational activities in the Croton River, has now ended and is no longer in effect.
