Mini pump under bottle cage - left side or right?

Submitted by isaacb on Mon, 01/09/2023 - 7:06pm

I'm putting an old mini pump to use. It has a mounting clip that fits under a bottle cage, can go on the left or right (drive) side. In a prior life, it sat on the left. I realize that when I lay my bike down, it's always drive side up. So, it would make sense to mount the pump on the drive side. But won't that expose the it to spray from the chain? Thx.

Hello and Happy New Year to all!

I am looking to join a group of NYCC cyclists to bike with in Mallorca this March or early April.  7-8 days. Please contact me if you know of a group that is going.  I am also considering organizing a group if there's not one in the works.  Please contact me asap.  Thanks--MaryBeth M

Thanks

B-Ride leaders

Steve Vaccaro, our B-Rides coordinator, is in the hospital. I am not sure of the details but he will likely not be in a position to approve rides for a while.

I am standing in for him but I don't automatically get notified of ride submissions. I will be checking the ride submissions regu larly but I don't want to miss someone's submission and leave you hanging whether the ride is approved.

When you submit a ride, if you don't get an approval in a reasonable time, send me an email telling me your plans. You don't need to give me the entire listing details. Once I know there is a ride submitted for approval I can look it up and approve it or, on the rare occasion when it is necessary to ask some questions I can contact you.

Is it reasonable to call/text a ride leader that you're late?

A while back, I was on a ride (not leading), where a rider called the leader to say that they are on the subway, running late and would they hold the ride. Is this a reasonable request?

Winter riding gear post?

Submitted by GoJaqs on Thu, 01/05/2023 - 8:51am

Is there any way to find the long and useful post a year or so ago about what to wear on winter rides? I don't see a search feature for this Forum.

It is that time of year where we build a database of train requests for Sig & STS rides on Metro North, NJ Transit & LIRR.

We request that each group select a point person to add their group's train requests to the shared documents. This is an endeavor where first come/first served has worked in the past. Exceptions arise and these need to be hammered out among the competing groups for overlapping spots. We request timely diligence by being proactive and seeing your requests through. Put in another way: don't procrastinate and see the project thru to the end.

Thus, Sig & STS captains: choose your representatives, work on your ride schedules, and enter your train requests on the shared documents.
