Ken Weissman....
I'm sad to share that Ken Weissman, longtime member of NYCC, passed away on Wednesday.
Few have given as much to the club as Ken over the decades.
With his extensive route knowledge, far beyond the city, Ken became C coordinator in the ‘80s.
He was a prolific ride leader and spearhead of winter hiking for members, no matter the brutal temperatures.
Ken invented and led the infamous ‘Snowshoe SIG’ with his wife Marilyn, an oversubscribed adventure into Harriman when the roads were too icy to bike.
He conceived NYCCs 'Social Sundays', welcoming rides for members and aspiring members of every pace, picked up by many of our leaders over the years and introducing many into the club.
As I approach age 83, I have stopped doing centuries, so I checked out my favorite one (in a car!)today
I have done it 20 or 30 times (Orangeburg or Piermont up to Newburgh-Beacon briidge and back down on the other side) The last time was a year and a half ago and our granddaughter met me for lunch @ about 50 miles in Cold Spring. Today was a very sunny and cold morning. I closely followed the route, except on bike trails where cars were not permitted. I even did the same breakfast (West Point Hotel Thayer) and lunch at the Haverstraw branch of the Palisades Market. I encountered only one bicyclist on the road all day and got out of the car at Bear Mtn to walk across the bridge & around the lake.
Women's Cyclocross -- a brief history
Just came across this on the BBC website and thought it'd be of interest to NYCC's "dirt" riders:
Stages SB20 Smart Bike-Zwift Deal
Zwift has an incredible deal for the Stages BD20 Smart Bike. Anyone have any experience with it?

County Road bridge over the Cresskill Brook
The County Road bridge over the Cresskill Brook in Cresskill (or Demarest or something) has finally been fixed. We can once again ride straight through from County Road to Anderson Avenue.

Hudson Terrace southbound is closed for construction
There's a big hole and lots of construction equipment. At Sherwood Ave you have to go over to 9W then return to Hudson Terrace at Bayview Ave.
Alternatively, you could avoid 9W by taking Summit St and back roads to Myrtle Ave. I will be going this way on Sunday's ride to Cresskill. Scenic but hilly and with 1 short flight of stairs.
