Ludlow lane closed 12/9 & 12/10/2016

Submitted by tcreyts on Fri, 12/09/2016 - 4:57pm

Ludlow Lane through Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades, NY is closed on 12/9 & 12/10 for resurfacing. Ludlow Lane is the road off Oak Tree at the bottom of the hill on 9W after the State Line Hill.

Please plan your rides accordingly.  I just spoke with the head of maintenance, and he does not want people cycling through campus Friday or Saturday.

Question about power output from a CP lap versus on flat terrain

Submitted by leegf on Tue, 12/06/2016 - 10:52am

Greetings all,

As many of you know, an FTP test should ideally be conducted on a flat, uninterrupted stretch of terrain (to the extent the test is performed outdoors and not indoors on a trainer). My question is this: assume (to keep things simple) it takes someone 20 minutes to do a full lap of Central Park (at threshold, much like an FTP test), and they are able to do so uninterrupted (e.g., very early in the morning or late in the evening). Given the rolling nature of CP, and based on power data that folks here have seen, should one expect the power output from that 20 minute CP lap to:

a. exceed (by roughly ___%)

b. fall short of (by roughly ___%)

c. be roughly equal to

110th Street - blobs of concrete and loose stones

Submitted by HBorgeson on Mon, 12/05/2016 - 10:47pm

Is anyone else bothered by the blobs of concrete on 110th as you head from Central Park to Morningside or Riverside? They seem to be multiplying, and now there is also a block full of rocks that don't get swept up by regular street sweeping. Any suggestions on how to report/fix this? It seems more complicated than a 311 matter.

NYCC Holiday Party-If You Can No Longer Attend

Submitted by RRGilbert on Mon, 12/05/2016 - 6:32pm

If anyone cannot attend, please contact me.   I will help arrange to transfer the ticket and fee to someone on the overflow list.  Thanks, Bob ([email protected])

Note the list on the website only includes those who signed up initially.  I will bring the complete list to the party that includes the waitlist people and others who contacted me when we swapped places with those who could not attend.
