Calling all cycling photographers

Submitted by LisaS on Tue, 12/27/2016 - 6:31pm

A former NYCC member asked me to post:

Calling all cycling photographers - see the link below for the 1st Annual Mark Gunter Photographer of the Year Awards.

Mark was an incredibly talented international cycling photographer who passed away at the young age of 41 as a result of oesophageal cancer. His wife has partnered with CyclingTips to launch the awards in her husbands name: https://cyclingtips.com/2016/12/the-first-annual-mark-gunter-photography-awards/

Contacting PANYNJ

Submitted by Cyclegalnycc on Tue, 12/27/2016 - 5:43pm

I have registered a written complaint with PA of NY&NJ regarding the lack of maintenance of the GWB path.  The ever-growing shards of glass, not only on the NY side ramp, but throughout the bridge now, plus all the large car parts (fenders, etc) thrown over the divider after traffic accidents, seems to just lay in the pathway and never get cleaned up.  One of the most offensive areas is the filth on the sidewalk as one enters from the NY side (on 178th St), which seems to grow each day.  I would urge and encourage others to register a written (email) complaint on the website as well.  If they receive many, possibly someone will take notice.

Call for Front Greeting Table Volunteers at monthly meetings

Submitted by EWeiss on Sat, 12/24/2016 - 5:27pm

Dear Members,

I am requsting volunteers for the front greeting table at our monthly meetings. This is the easiest NYCC volunteer job you will be offered all year. I need two volunteers per meeting. First come, first serve. Do not worry, if you need to cancel for any important reason, just get a notarized note from your mother and you will be excused, offered a make-up meeting date, and I will not whine when I have to desperately look for a replacement. Here are the advantages for you if you chose to step up and help out:

1. You will be present at the meeting and hear the interesting and informative presentations by prominent members of the cycling community that we have planned for our members.

Change of address for our January 10th meeting to Connolly's other location

Submitted by EWeiss on Fri, 12/23/2016 - 11:14pm

Dear Members,

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have had to move our next meeting to: Connolly's Pub & Restaurant, 14 E. 47th St. (bet. Mad. - 5th)(2nd fl.). The semi-private room is a comfortable space that can easily accommodate a large group, which we hope will attend the interesting and informative program that we have planned for you. To be clear, we will be served our food and drinks by a server at our tables, as usual, but not be served at the bar.
