Announcing the NYCC Race and Development Team

Submitted by aleone on Wed, 11/16/2016 - 7:07pm

NYCC is pleased to announce the launch of the NYCC Racing and Development Program.

From the founders of the Attack! to Nyack comes a program to make you faster as well as develop racing within the NYCC community. We will be having a meeting to introduce NYCC members to the program on November 30th, 2016 at 6:30pm at Lilly's Craft and Kitchen on 9th Avenue (675 9th Ave, between 46th and 47th Streets). If you are interested in the program (or even just curious) please join us!  We will walk through the development program, provide information on racing, and answer any questions that may come up.  The development program launches in December 2016.  The first races of the 2017 season are in March 2017.

9W Cleanup - EPILOGUE

Submitted by CGuzzetta on Mon, 11/14/2016 - 6:21pm

Civic duty?  No way, I call that a party.  25 NYCC members gathering to clean up schmutz alongside one of our most popular routes.  Then to come together for a group lunch.  I got to ride with people I hardly ever ride with, gab with people I hardly ever gab with, meet people I’ve never met before.  And. . . make a mile of 9W the prettiest mile of them all.  Call that civic duty?

Hey Gerald Ross, you and your partner Peter Storey, thanks for making a great party for all of us.

Changing the cassette and the chain

Submitted by pffddspc on Sun, 11/13/2016 - 7:28pm

I just changed the chain and and did a 65mi. 3400ft. ride.  It still slips in the lowest gear.  I guess it needs a new cassette.  Can I use the chain that I just rode 65mi. with when I change the cassette?

Can anyone tell me how this transates to Prospect Park laps?

In terms of speed, you should be able to complete 4 laps around Central Park in 2 hours or less. (Our fastest B18 riders will be in at 85 minutes or less.)

Thanks

Submitted by CGuzzetta on Wed, 11/09/2016 - 4:45pm

I certainly want to thank the officers who are leaving the board at the end of this year. . .and welcome those who are joining for the first time.  I will – soon.   But. . . . right now I want to acknowledge the election the Club had Tuesday, 11/8 for our Escape New York Director for 2017.
