Tuesday, November 1: Final CB7 Vote on Hudson Greenway Re-Route

Submitted by jzisfein on Wed, 10/26/2016 - 4:10pm

NYCCers:

NYC Parks wants to permanently re-route cyclists on the Hudson River Greenway (72nd-83rd Streets). Instead of the current path by the water, cyclists will be directed to an inland path that climbs to the traffic circle at 79th Street. Parks is seeking Manhattan Community Board 7 approval.

This proposal should be of interest to all cyclists who use the Hudson River Greenway, not just Upper West Siders. The Community Board meeting, at the hospital formerly known as Roosevelt, is Tuesday 11/1 at 6:30.

Escape New York - it's time for a change

Submitted by LWintner on Wed, 10/26/2016 - 12:00pm

We need to revitalize Escape New York, our Club's marquee event.  My vision for ENY 2017 is to have an exciting and well-attended event drawing riders of all ages and different riding levels - from Ed Fishkin’s Kids Ride Club to the racing teams.  Since joining the Club some 22 years ago, I have found that my most rewarding experiences have involved group/team efforts, such as the SIG, Newcomers, and All Class Rides, and of course Escape New York.  ENY presents an amazing opportunity for NYCC to present itself to the cycling community.  It also serves as a platform for us to recruit new Club members by showcasing our fantastically friendly and fun members who volunteer at Sakura Park, rest stops, and along the route as marshals.  This event should make

Corrected link for voting???

Submitted by GYang on Tue, 10/25/2016 - 2:16pm

We were forwarded a corrected link to vote yesterday, but several of us voted using the original "incorrect" link.

When we clicked on the corrected link we were told that we had voted already.

Clearly the system correctly recognized we had voted already, but were our votes cast using the incorrect link automatically transferred into the "correct" system?

Recommendations for Rollers

Anyone have any views on whether rollers are worthwhile for winter training, and if so, which ones are best?

Thanks!

ENY Marketing...

Submitted by slunetta on Tue, 10/25/2016 - 3:53am

One of our main goals this past year was to create a unified look and feel to the ENY Brand. This needed to start from the Logo, continue to the Jersey, the staff t-shirts, banners, signs, all of the way down to arrows on the road. We needed to create the look, produce all of the elements and then capture them on the day of the event.

Why was this so important? When I first accepted the position, I went looking for the Historical Images and Logo artwork for ENY. There was no original artwork or high resolution photo set on the shared google drive from which to create new marketing materials. This put us in a very difficult position.

Choice 1: Produce low quality Products with the current Logo etc. (based on the material we had) or…
