NYC Ride for Safe Streets & Memorial for Jose Alzorriz on August 25th
I was asked to post this and I am happy to do so.
The more we have at any and all these events the better and any support or help to move towards safer riding is essential for us all as cyclist.
Last-minute ride post for Monday 8/19: 5 boroughs, 7 counties, SI beach
For reasons, it makes sense for me not to go to work tomorrow, and I'm planning to go for a ride instead. It's gonna be hot, humid, and gross, much like today, so I'm thinking I'll use that as an excuse to go the long way to Midland Beach on Staten Island.
This, basically, at about a B18 pace, starting from CPW/96th Street at about 9 AM.

I'm not 100% committed to the Bk/Queens bits, actually; depending on the time I may just head for the SI Ferry directly back to Manhattan.
Perhaps this is a bit of a long shot, but if anyone else may be interested respond, or use the email response to this post thing. Thanks!
ENY 2019 jersey?
What's the design for this year's ENY jersey?
How to purchase the jersey?
Interesting article about Colorado Springs and bike lanes
They had/have some of the same issues that we are experiencing here.

Should I upgrade my wheels to Zipp 302... when they weigh about the same?
I have a 2017 Specialized Diverge Carbon Comp edition. I was thinking of finally upgrading my wheels to get some speed/aero.
I currently have my stock wheels which are:

I was recommended by my bike shop the Zipp 302s as they are not too expensive:

However when comparing specs, I was surprised to see they weight about the same! Would getting these even make much of a difference then? Or is there much more than just the weight that can give me a noticeable speed/aero increase?
B16 Morning Laps in Central Park - Tuesday - canceled
It’s raining.
Pedestrian Mall right before NY Presbyterian Hospital
Sorry if this has been on board before - but at end of Havens Avenue (street you make left after GW Bridge coming back to city) a few feet before Barns & Noble bookstore on left- it was closed for a few weeks for construction. It is now a pedestrian/bench area - no bicycles can go through - (there's a gate) must walk on sidewalk or make left turn one block before to get to Broadway--
Unhappy with your new bike jersey? Here are a couple of alternatives:
Good news re Jones Beach
In recent years cycling at a leisure pace has been permitted on the boardwalk at all times. Also a paved bike path now connects the East Bathhouse field 5/stadium area with Tobay Beach. Today I was happy to discover that this year a new paved trail extends Westbound from West End/pkg field #1 several miles towards the Point Lookout inlet. I did about 15 stunnning miles today without including more miles cycling to & from Wantagh to the beach(the info office claimed that that trail is in good shape). The beach now has zip lining in addition to other sports and activities plus a number of dining options. I have enjoyed the beach for over 60 years as a visitor and employee but have never seen it better than today. Thanks Mr. Moses!
