B17 Ride Tomorrow/Friday
Hi All-
I just listed/submitted a ride tomorrow to Oyster Bay, Long Island. Yes, I'm playing hooky tomorrow. Ride;yes. Work;no.
Mentioning it here, as listing was pretty last minute, and I want to get the word out.
As far as I can tell, it's the only listed NYCC ride tomorrow. So, it's ride w/ me, or no NYCC for you tomorrow.
ROAD CONDITIONS....Henry Hudson Drive aka River Road, and 9W
Road River Road yesterday...ALL POTHOLES were filled. Of course..poorly..they are NOW ALL BUMPS!!! The paving material is dark and visible from a distance..smooth if avoid the new FILLED IN HOLES, perhaps a bit better,,but really WTF! Running race there soon..duh
9W.. Victor from NJ DOT arranged for gravel on northbound shoulder to be cleared
however..on the fast sweeping right downhill, heading north, prior to traffic light before the market..shoulder on semi-blind turn is only a few inches smooth, with a dangerous ditch 10-15 feet long
also NYC DOT has not yet repaired sidewalk getting ont sidewalk on NY side
Oldish steel frame with Campy stuff suitable for L’Eroica ride
Borrow for a few days..not for ride in Italy...to learn 1-toe clips,2-friction shifting, 3-old Campy brakes
friend doing ride in Italy..has bike rented there..BUT never used above 3 tasks..
need old bike..Campy record or close to with above
have another loaner..but needs a bunch of work..trying to find one ALMOST rideable. SIZE approx 52-53 cm

RR / HH Drive open or closed?
River Road aka Henry Hudson Drive was closed yesterday (Monday 26th). Anyone know if it's open / passable today?
[TLDR / it's fine]
Bike racks at The Market (aka Filling Station)
Haven't had a problem yet, but am I being a bit paranoid in thinking that the new low-profile bike racks that they put down at The 9W Market, hit exactly where your rear derailleur is.. and a tip of bit could bend or break something? Especially seems since most everyone put their bikes in these with the rear wheel and not the front.
Anyway.. just a thought or watchout if you will.
piermont road heading south toward the G.W. ?
I rode this the first time south to 502 usually I go back on 9w. never went past oak tree road before
Any value to continuing past 502 and turning on Clinton instead? I see it on the map but decided against this weekend as Piermont Road appeared to be getting busier at that point. Thoughts?
