Search on Message Board - JimR Webmaster

Submitted by JReaven on Mon, 11/08/2010 - 6:15pm

First, with regard to a question on how to return to the top of the message board, the way seems to be to click on "Message Board" at the right side of the top menu. As to search, check out the Search function at the top right of the screen. If you click through to the Advanced Search, you can choose to limit your search to Message Board specifically. Also note the options including searching for a word or a phrase. I tried it and it seems to work OK when I tested. Let me know how it works for you. Also note the different tabs for searching for content or people, etc.

Question about navigating Message Board

Submitted by HSchiffman on Mon, 11/08/2010 - 6:10pm

After reading a thread, the only way I have found to get back to the list of threads on the Message Board is by hitting my back arrow on my browser. There used to be a Threads link to click on. Am I missing this link?

Custom Frame Painting

Submitted by DvB on Mon, 11/08/2010 - 3:41pm

Really sorry if this has been discussed recently.  I just searched (or at least tried to search) on "paint," "painting," etc., with no real results.  Seems hard to believe it hasn't been discussed here, as I seem to remember a thread on it some time ago.

Anyway, I'm interested in getting a couple of older steel frames repainted, and I'm just wondering if anyone here has had a good experience with a local frame painter.  Many thanks in advance, and again apologies if this has come up recently.

No anonymous postings? Hooray!

Submitted by JKalish on Mon, 11/08/2010 - 2:31pm

If it's true, as it seems to be, that this new system does not permit anonymous postings, that will be a great improvement to the Message Board.  However, it seems that there are currently a significant number of deficiencies, in both content and implementation, that need to be fixed in this new site.  Reverting to the original site while updates are made might not be a bad idea.

Transfer of content not finished - by Webmaster Jim R

Submitted by JReaven on Mon, 11/08/2010 - 1:28pm

Regarding the cue sheets, the late 2010 message board posts, and much other content...please undersand that the content transfer is not complete. We needed to go live as early as possible with the basic functionality while we still have developer talent on board. Due to holidays, job changes, etc., we couldn't wait. Much content remains to be downloaded. We won't forget.

Ride Listings - No Pace Numbers?

Submitted by JHerzfeld on Mon, 11/08/2010 - 1:18pm

What happened to pace numbers in the ride listings? The letter class alone isn't really enough. A ride simply listed as "B" may be too fast for some, and slow for others.

I receive error messages when I try to register for the Holiday Party.

can't view ride details even when logged in

Submitted by milkfish on Mon, 11/08/2010 - 12:57pm

am I doing something wrong? I'm logged in, click on a ride to see the details and it says I need to log in...

additionally, is there one central place to dump suggestions for this site? The  "About the NYCC Message Board" block of test needlessly consumes the whole right column which could certainly be better used to expand the subject field of the posts.

UNEMPLOYMENT RIDE Wednesday

Submitted by ATaylor on Mon, 11/08/2010 - 12:52pm

I am posting a ride for Wednesday. The ride starts at 9:15am at 89th & RSD, going up the west side of Lake Tappan and around Lake Deforest, about 75 miles. Beautiful route, many water views, ride newly repaved Strawtown. Lunch in West Nyack. Route can be changed to fit the group.

So far we have a core of 19-pace riders. There are no 20+s yet, but they are welcome. Not planning a cue sheet, but if any one needs one, or if there are faster riders planning to ride ahead, I will gin one up.

Let me know who is interested. (Or if you want us to consider an alternative idea.)

Check the Massage Board for any changes.
