I just want to warn everyone the NYPD is really making their presence felt in CP today. And giving out a hell of a lot of tickets to those who fail to stop at red lights. So proceed with your eyes open, and watch out for 5.0.

While I see the need to preserve the safety of pedestrians, and one who conscientiously yields any time there are pedestrians, this strikes me as completely unfair, especially considering the number of "don't walk" violations occurring without punishment in the exact same place.

I have been using clipless mountain bike pedals for years. They have SPD connections on both sides and have a black rubber or plasitic or rubber frame around them so they can be used without locking in. It is easy to lock in because the lock ins are on both sides, and as soon as my foot roatates the pedal into position, the attachment is almost automatic. In addition, the pedals spin very freely, sort of like your wheel does if you give it a spin, It keeps going. If I give the pedal a flick with my finger it keeps spinning like a top. Recently I decided to change to more aerodynamic and lighter road type pedals. The are Shimano PD A 520. They attach only on one side with SPD cleats.

Hmm, let's see: I have a letter to send. Do I call FedEx, UPS, or DHL to mail it? No, no; I really appreciate the Postal Service's sponsoring Lance so for that reason, just to show my appreciation to the USPS, instead of paying $18, I'll just drop it in the nearest mail chute for 44¢ (less in Lance's day).

I would like some info from anyone who's crossed the bridge in the last day or so. Is 9W still so salt-covered? Has the shoulder been cleared a bit? Thanks.

Although the roads are clear and mostly dry, there are scattered puddles which will be dangerous ice the next few mornings--e.g. Rockland Road at 9W. Except for some parts of 9W there are virtually no shoulders. It's going to be VERY cold around here Saturday AM!

NYCC Oldtimer

I upgraded to a CycleOps so I am selling this trainer. Lightly used for one season. Not a fancy trainer, but totally fine for those times you just don't want to go outside. Not charging too much as you will need to pick it up in East Village local.
