Remember "The Triplets of Bellville"?

Submitted by nycc_oldtimer on Fri, 01/14/2011 - 4:16pm

This is probably not (entirely) related to cycling, but I thought I'd pass post a link to Ebert's review:

FS: Ascent Adjustable Magnetic Trainer $40

Submitted by LMazzola on Fri, 01/14/2011 - 4:04pm

I upgraded to a CycleOps so I am selling this trainer. Lightly used for one season. Not a fancy trainer, but totally fine for those times you just don't want to go outside. Not charging too much as you will need to pick it up in East Village local.

See it here.

I just met the inventor/manufacturer of the "CueClip"

Submitted by HSchiffman on Fri, 01/14/2011 - 11:04am

Up at Snowbird, over conversation at last evening's wine and cheese party at the lodge, the topic of road biking came up. He cycles to work and does rides through northeastern Ohio, including Hiram, the college I went to. He then mentioned he is the inventor/manufacturer of the "CueClip," a solution to the age old issue of how to fasten a cue sheet to your handlebar. I have never used one, let alone been aware of this product's existence. But its mention appears timely in advance of our Spring riding series.

Die Hards CP Laps. To the boathouse!

Submitted by HWoods on Fri, 01/14/2011 - 9:37am

No clear shoulders out there so this is pretty much the only viable option. We're not complaining, we'll kiss the salty ground in Central Park for letting us get a ride in this weekend. Let's meet at the Boathouse at 9am. Watch the patches of ice along the edges and the slippery horse poo on the south end.

Sunday morning impromptu ride: Old Hook Diner in Westwood, plus other stuff?

Submitted by MHiller on Thu, 01/13/2011 - 12:42pm

For those around for the long weekend:

Anybody up for a ride on the far side of the GWB on Sunday morning?
Assuming road conditions don't get bad due to some kind of snow
melt-and-refreeze cycle between then and now. I'm thinking perhaps of
something like http://goo.gl/Wj2dP (once we get to the GWB, at least;
it was hard to persuade the bike directions to stay on Riverside
Drive. :-o ). The route sticks to roads that should be clear, though
we might have to reroute on the fly if conditions warrant. Early food
stop at the Old Hook Diner in Westwood. (This could also be a decision
point for shortening the route.)

B16ish pace; I'd likely be on my fully-fendered commute bike (with
rear rack removed.) Start time would be around 9 AM from Grant's Tomb,

SIGs

Submitted by gummo on Thu, 01/13/2011 - 11:39am

Hi all,

Just saw the SIGs info on Facebook (the ENY page), and I'm considering jumping in. At some point, I saw times on this site for "qualifying" rides, but I no longer see those. Anyone have a link to that?

Also, anyone a graduate of either the B or the A-19 SIGs? I'd love to hear an unbiased review of how it was. Not sure if I should go this route, or just put in serious miles on my own/with a friend.

Many thanks!

Anyone know a bicycling chef?

Submitted by galfromdownunder on Wed, 01/12/2011 - 9:45pm

Hot on the heels of Handmade Bikes, I've been asked to write a piece for a bicycling magazine about a NYC restaurant with a bicycling chef. Photos will include prepared recipe, chef, and the exterior and interior of the restaurant. Anyone have a fave pedaling pierogi maker who'd like the exposure? If all else fails I'll have to resort to the only person I'm aware of - the guy who owns Gramercy Tavern, because I saw his Dahon in the cloak room (when I was being TREATED to a birthday lunch there, heaven forbid). But i'm not sure he is technically a chef. My deadline is ASAP. Appreciate any leads! Send to [email protected]
