Upgrading Wheels

Submitted by TShepard on Wed, 01/12/2011 - 7:07am

I have a steel road bike w/carbon front fork and am considering upgrading the wheels. The original wheels were Bontrager Select. I several years ago replaced a cracked rear wheel with a Shimano WH-R500. I am a 50-ish 200 pound B level club rider.

Can someone point me to an article or provide information on how to evaluate wheel options?

Handlebar swap?

Submitted by arvi on Tue, 01/11/2011 - 7:23pm

Do you have an extra / wrong size handlebar? Wanna trade?

I have two: a 3T Rotundo Pro (42cm), and an Easton EA70 (44cm). Both are lightly used / nothing wrong, I'm just realizing I'd prefer a 40cm bar.

Anybody have a similar quality bar in 40cm they'd like to swap? I'd strongly prefer a round / non-anatomic bend bar, if possible (round bends look like this, anatomic bends look like this)

E-Alert: Thanking NYCDOT Commissioner Sadik-Khan

Submitted by SHigashide on Tue, 01/11/2011 - 4:02pm

I wanted to let you know about an e-alert we set up over the holidays – it’s a post-holiday “thank you” card to Janette Sadik-Khan and her bosses for all the green infrastructure NYC has put in over the past 3 years.

As some of you are probably aware of, city and state politicians and media have been taking increasing aim at bike lanes and other transportation improvements, and this has continued in the New Year:

- CBS 2 on how the Columbus Ave. bike lane is bad for business.

EXPIRATION NOTICES

Submitted by JReaven on Mon, 01/10/2011 - 10:25pm

If you received an expiration notice, please ignore it. It was sent by the test system, not the live system, as our programmer works on creating a new join/renew system.
