C-Sigger loses his sole...

but not his soul.

I'm the guy whose shoe started coming apart on the way to the bridge this morning. I decided to not continue without a new shoe and not chance crossing the bridge and go to the bike shop on Hudson Terrace. I went to Toga and got new shoes and also new pedals. My cleats are wearing down anyway and the pedals are the same age as my shoes. My inner slacker wanted me to do a few laps and go home but I decided against that for 2 reasons. One is that I would like to get some miles in and, two, I know that the park on a Saturday would drive me insane! So I went up to GWB and up 9w to the NYS border, turned around and went home. All total, door to door, 52 miles. So my inner slacker was slapped down a bit.

2 Available Charity slots for 5 Boro Bike Tour - VIP Start

Submitted by TLipshie on Fri, 04/08/2011 - 5:45pm

2 slots are available to ride for Bronxworks, a social service agency, with the proceeds going to children's programs at 3 Bronx shelters for homeless families:

http://www.bronxworks.org/events/bike-new-york

This is the first year that the bike tour is not buying back unused charity slots (they've also significantly increased their entry fee), so we'd really like to fill them. Please email me with any questions.

Helpful Guidelines for Central Park Training.

Submitted by NLawson on Fri, 04/08/2011 - 12:20pm

The following was posted by Dave Jordan (CRCA President) to the CRCA message board.  I felt it was worth posting here for reference.  Let’s do our part to keeping Central Park a safe place to cycle.

1. Yield to Pedestrians, at all times, and give a lane's width when passing any park users traveling in the same parallel direction.

2. Recover or endurance pace on Westside descent after W85th, that downhill in particular should ridden with extreme caution, and soon Shakespeare in the Park crowds will be gathering.

3. No shouting or rude behavior towards any park users.

Wheel upgrade?

Submitted by galgalone on Fri, 04/08/2011 - 10:49am

Hey,

I am looking to get new tires for my Specialized Dolce, right now I have stock wheels.  I did some reading, but the posibilities seem endless.

I would like to stick to a 600-800 dollar budget for the pair.  Any specific suggestions? General tips? thinks to pay attention to? I am still doing some reading but would love to get some more food for thought.
