Piermont enforcing traffic light violations

Submitted by JJacobson on Sat, 04/16/2011 - 9:43am

Police car was at corner Sat AM.  We have only one traffic light in the lower village and we are very proud of it.  At this time of the year police here and in other West Bank municipalities are also stepping up enforcement of the single file laws.   -Joan & Jay Jacobson (the only Piermont residents who are NYCC members)

B SIG Oyster Bay ride POSTPONED to Sunday

Submitted by WWright on Sat, 04/16/2011 - 5:46am

The B SIG Oyster Bat ride scheduled for today is postponed to Sunday.  Same start time and location:  9am from the Statue of Civic Virtue.

It seems too likely that the rain will start before we're all finished with the ride.  And if you like wind with your rain this afternoon might provide the perfect combo.

At this point it looks like Sunday will be a better day.  Sunday's forecast also calls for a windy day, so check here for updates about ride status tomorrow morning.

I hope to see you all tomorrow.

B SIG Oyster Bay Ride: We'll Make the Call in the Morning

Submitted by WWright on Fri, 04/15/2011 - 5:12pm

To All B SIG Participants:

From looking at current weather forecasts, I don't think we can say for sure if tomorrow will be a good riding day or not.  At the moment it looks like not, but with the rain currently expected to start tomorrow afternoon, we'd better hold off on making that decision until the morning.

I will post the go/no-go decision by 7:00 a.m. tomorrow.  It's a shame we can't decide right now, but I don't want to postpone tonight and then end up losing Sunday as a riding day as well.

Thanks for your patience.  Cross your fingers for at least one good ride day this weekend.

Wayne, for the B SIG Leader Team

Gerald and I have been watching the front that is moving in and checking the changes in the forecasts for Saturday and Sunday. While early forecasts seemed to give us a chilly, windy, but dry day on Saturday with rain coming into the picture in the early to late evening, things have taken a turn for the worse more recently. Now, the probability of rain has increased by 1pm, which would definitely cut into the ride. Saturday temperature is also scheduled to only reach about 50 at most with a good deal of wind. Wet and chilly are not the kind of conditions that typically yield a pleasant riding experience. So we are considering moving the ride to Sunday, where the temps are predicted about 10 degrees warmer.
