New dream house on the Putnam Trailway - 45 miles from Manhattan

Submitted by davidmckaywilson on Wed, 06/15/2011 - 10:14am

I've been helping my friend complete the gut restoration of a 100-year-old home that's right on the  Putnam Trailway  in Mahopac. It's 1,200 sq. ft, 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, modern kitchen with granite counters, hardwood floors, skylight, deck that overlooks the bike trail, which is Putnam's extension of Westchester’s North and South County trailways from the Bronx border to Brewster.  The home is the perfect place for biking enthusiasts ,especially those with children. About an hour’s drive from Manhattan and served by the Croton Falls Metro North station, which is six miles away, where you could ride from, or take a taxi.  $299,500. A BIG Congratulations again to all of this year’s SIG grads.  C’s… 70+; A19’s… 46;  B’s… 100+!  And the A-Classic …with a record 42.  Over 250 grads in all.  WOW!!  What great spirit, what a great club!  What a great program… thank you for giving us this wonderful gift Christy!

As Timothy mentioned, “Producing Great Wheels” is our A-Classic motto.  Here they are; our 42 rock stars who worked their tails off to become great wheels!  We are very proud of them and what they accomplished!

Police Are Among Worst Offenders Blocking Manhattan’s Bike Lanes

Submitted by Mojo on Tue, 06/14/2011 - 3:58pm

Manhattan bike riders face a host of obstacles using the borough's bike lanes, from double-parked livery cabs and delivery trucks, to oblivious pedestrians, to NYPD vehicles using them as parking spaces, a recent survey by DNAinfo found.

DNAinfo reporter Ben Fractenberg rode many of the city's bike lanes starting downtown and traveling north all the way to Washington Heights, and tracing his way from the east to the west side. One of the worst stretches, he found, was directly behind an NYPD precinct in Harlem.

Twenty seven out of 44 marked and unmarked NYPD vehicles parked behind the 28 Precinct on St. Nicholas Ave. between 122nd and 123rd Streets on a recent Monday jutted into a stretch of bike lane on both sides of the two-way street.
