Los Angeles riding/bike renting

Submitted by Awilson on Sun, 06/19/2011 - 7:32pm

I am there for the next several weeks for work.  Thought I was going to be able to rent a bike somewhat equivalent to mine from a shop that was reco'd to me...isn't going to pan out.  I ride a Trek Madone 5.5 WSD...so if you know of a shop that rents out similar rides for extended times...

As well, would love anyone's thoughts on riding groups there.  Will be staying in Pacific Palisades, so looking for rides it that vicinity...Santa Monica, Brentwood, Beverly Hills...

Many Thanks,

alexa

Need Cue Sheet

Submitted by Cyclegalnycc on Sun, 06/19/2011 - 7:12pm
Last year we took a different route to Kingsland Park using the Trailway bike path. I'm riding up to Briarcliff Manor next weekend and would love it if someone has that cue sheet. I checked the ride library and the one I saw went on Route 9 for 7 miles, which is very heavily trafficked and at times no shoulder. Thanks!

Custom jerseys from V-Gear

Submitted by amn on Sun, 06/19/2011 - 6:53pm

A few people have asked about the custom jerseys made by one of the C-SIG groups this year. They were made by V-gear, which is just up the road on 9W. The price per jersey was $44 including tax and shipping. The minimum order for jerseys is 10. Best of all is the 2-3 week turnaround. A few of us just tried them out on a century, have no complaints and will be putting in another order. Here's a description about the company and a link to their website.

My girlfriend and I are in breckenridge colorado visiting my newborne neice and wanted to get advice on biking out here. Does anyone know and good routes? We have a car and are willing to go pretty far for some good biking. We dont have any bikes with us so we would need to rent, any advice on a good rental place would be great. My girlfriend and sister will be accompanying me on the ride(s) and arent as experienced bikers. Any advice or leads would be most appreciated. Thanks, Hans

A.S.S. Ride #3: Damon + Felicia + Cold Spring.

Submitted by HWoods on Sun, 06/19/2011 - 5:05am

An awesome After Sig Series Saturday. Perfect route, diverse group, beautiful weather, and of course that amazing decent into the Depot. All managed well by the very, very capable team of Damon Strub and Felicia Ennis who we all know will lead many great rides for a long time to come. A get well soon to Vitaly's wheel. Special thanks to SIG Leaders Bob, Betsy and George--it's always nice to have experience in the line. And thanks to the SIG itself for producing great wheels like Damon and Felicia. Here's a pic on the hardpack. Next Saturday, A-Classic Boss Tombaugh and her team haul A.S.S. up  Storm King.

ride boilerplate and aero bars

Submitted by DHudes on Sat, 06/18/2011 - 9:42pm

Club policy prohibits aero bars on club rides just as it requires helmets and prohibits earphones. Please update the ride listing boilerplate to add a clause reminding riders that aero bars are prohibited. I continue to get inquiries from those who have clip-on aero bars who are loathe to remove them .

Also would appreciate an official club explanation on the website to which I could point inquirers which explains why we prohibit them.
