AMAZING NEW ITEMS IN! NIGHTS ON THE TOWN IN PIERMONT! SILENT AUCTION HERE!
Sunday 2/12, A20 to River Rd. (Piermont?)
Yeah, this is an 11th hr. posting, but if anyone needs to get their riding fix in tomorrow and is ready to bundle up, I'll be doing a River Rd. ride starting 9:30 at Grant's Tomb.
Will probably stop at Palisades Mkt, but could alternatively go into Piermont.
Reply here or just show up (but preferably reply so I know to wait).

Piermont the Hilly Way B-18 ride
Looks like the weather has finally cancelled a ride! Tomorrow's ride is cancelled. Sleep in, but not too late. Get in the pool and swim, or get on the stationary bike and ride, see an interesting movie, run on the treadmill, but do something! Join us next week on our B-18 Mamaroneck ride!
Charity Slots for 5 Boro Bike Tour
I am trying to help my non-profit organization, Sanctuary for Families, recruit charity riders for the 5 Boro Bike Tour and we haven't found as many as we'd like so far (25 slots - 6 confirmed so far). Would love any advice from NYCC members about places to post notices, other message boards, and generally where we might find interested riders.
WUSS ride weather alert and a (die hard) plan B.
Looking like 90% chance of rain/snow tonight and 100% tomorrow. If the forecast is right, the Wake Up and Smell the Sig ride for tomorrow is cancelled.
But still we ride. Damon and I will be at Eleanor at 9am for a special edition Feb Die Hard ride. Anyone with an MTB, CX or Commuter bike is welcome to join us for a spin down the greenway and over the bridge to B/Q for super premium coffee and donuts.
Check back here for the final call before 8am tomorrow.

Wheelset Upgrade -- Reynolds R2 or....
Seeking advice and experience on wheelset upgrade. I am 5'11 and 170 and ride a Jamis Xenith Comp. Mostly do club rides, century rides and multi-day charity rides. There is a slight possibility I will race at some point but not sure. I want to upgrade the wheelset that came with my bike. Doing the Grand Fondo NY and AIDSLifecycle (SF to LA) this year has inspired me to go lighter and more aero.
I've done some research on weight vs. aero and carbon clincher vs. alu...and my main concern is braking on descents (I tend to lean a bit on the brakes)....I don't want to spend a fortune nor do I need racing wheels but it seems like carbon clinchers are a good choice but there is the braking temperature issue.
Disaster on Federal Transportation Funding Act
Currently, both the House and Senate versions of the transportation bill strip out funding for bicycle and walking infrastructure. Funding is critical for Safe Routes to Schools and completion of rail trails and other bicycling infrastructure (like, say, the bike lane on the proposed new Tappan Zee Bridge). Help pressure Congress to restore that funding. Send an email to your Senators and Representative.

Cyclist seeking cyclist....
This is a post for a friend. See below.
Looking for a cyclist named Dimitri that may have witnessed an accident last May 8th on 9W. This was the same date as the Gran Fondo. The accident happened between a female cyclist and a vehicle turning onto the Palisades Parkway at the boy scout camp area. The cyclist suffered a skull fracture and was unconscious. A cyclist named Dimitri stopped and used her (Ellen's) cell phone to call an emergency contact for her.
