Lebron James bikes to his Miami Heat game, I guess that makes him a commuter.

Submitted by Rmarcus on Mon, 01/30/2012 - 10:28pm

Nice thing to see a guy who earns $16 Million a year understanding that a bicycle will get you to work faster and easier than sitting in traffic. Of course he does have a place to lock his bike up and shower.

Wonder if the Miami Heat will suggest he no longer do bike to work, at least during the season.

First off, I'd like to thank everyone who's been helping me with some riding and bike purchasing basics in my other recent post (a special thanks to the Cross Country Mule Maggie).  It's great to see that the community I've joined is going to be so helpful helping a chubby little upstart learn to ride with the big guys.

CYCLING 108

MAINTENANCE-minimalist:  the next few weeks are the time to assess how happy your bike is. Is it clean and shiny or grim; under coats of salt, dirt and grime?  The  issue of making him(or her) happy now; is if you spruce the bike up now will we have snow; and more salt and grime.  Bike stores are less busy now; so turn-around for work is faster.  1-check tires-bad cuts and wear-replace if needed.  2-Chains-usually good for around 3000miles-then stretch:  if they stretch they wear you rear cogs and a new chain won't "fit" old rear teeth.  If you replace chains often enough the rear cogs last much longer.3-BB ,HS, Hubs-usually good unless road a lot in wet conditions-or excessive amount of miles.

Your payment: Free wheel truing (although, since you have a stand, you don't need anyone to true your wheels).

Please reply to envelope icon, on the left.
