For a city agency that is quick to take credit when the opportunity arises, they have plenty to explain to us.

Cyclists are voters who ride bikes.

Tuesday Morning to Piermont (& is River Road clear of snow?) B18

Submitted by DRosenberg on Mon, 01/23/2012 - 6:45pm

I'll be leaving Grant's Tomb tomorrow, Tuesday, to go to Piermont at 8:30 am.  If River Road is clear of snow, we'll ride it.  Please join.  B18.

Does anyone know if River Road is clear of snow?

2012 Incentive program

Why is leading training laps 5x more valuable per ride than leading a regular ride?

Training laps are certainly of value to the club and getting up in the early morning darkness is appreciated. But leading a ride means quite a lot of work and responsibility including scouting the ride, making cue sheets and managing/leading the group out on the road. Indeed, group rides are the primary purpose of our club. Everything else is in support of this activity: without group rides out to wherever, there's not much point to e.g. the SIG program -- who needs the SIG just to ride in the park?

If I'm misunderstanding and training laps are 5 points for the year rather than 5 per session, please so state.

"A" laps in the Park Tuesday morning

Submitted by CGuzzetta on Mon, 01/23/2012 - 1:19pm

The forecast says the wetness will stop in time for the roads to dry tomorrow morning – plus mild January temperatures!  If it’s above 35 degrees and the roads are indeed dry, join me at Tavern on the Green at 6:00 AM for 3 kinda casual “A” laps in the Park.

Your friends are welcome to come along.

CYCLING 107

WINTER is obviously here.  How about trying training a bit differently. If you feel that you stagnate-always try changing how you train.  This time of the year a good change is to do the OPPOSITE of what you might normally do!  I mean:  instead of shifting to easier gears on uphhills-shift into harder gears-sit and or stand -lower RPM and probably slower speeds -but work on strength..  Conversely; when going down hills-instead of gearing up-shift to an easier gear and do 100-110RPM-stay smooth no excessive motion-practice-have fun
