need bottle cage mount fix

Submitted by BG on Mon, 02/13/2012 - 10:45pm

One of the bottle cage mounts on the downtube has come loose and can't be tightened. I understand there's a special rivet nut tool that's required. Bicycle Habitat doesn't have it. Before I randomly call around, anyone know a shop that has one?
Thanks,
Bill

Suggestions for a good winter cycling jacket...

Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 02/13/2012 - 9:05pm

My trusty Cannondale jacket (circa 2005) zipper bit the dust.  I now need a new winter cycling jacket, with the addition of base layering of course, that is warm down to 15 degrees F.  The Cannondale jacket fit that need and was more like a jacket for scuba diving than cycling.  It worked great.

I've been searching around and I cannot find anything that will work in those temps. It seems like that type of jacket isn't made anymore.  Has anyone found a winter jacket that will work in temps down to 15F?

Found a nice bike light on Alpine hill today. If it's yours, click the e-mail link on this post, tell me the make and model, and I can get it back to you one way or another.

Hello...

Two quick updates launched today...

1. Names are listed by first-name alphabetic on the roaster/waiver.

2. The view/reads number is gone from the site.  Note: this number was never accurate and we'll reap some performance gains.

More good stuff to come...

I need a true touring bike for a cross-country trip this summer.  I went into one well-regarded store and was told the category 'no longer exists' as they tried to sell me a zippy road bike.  I'd prefer not to go mail order if I don't have to.  Any and all leads greatly appreciated.

I wish the Road Runners were included in the Central Park protocols.

Submitted by RRosenthal on Mon, 02/13/2012 - 8:35am

This week's NYCC eWeekly (or, in consideration of my riding ability, for me, eWeakly) publishes a welcomed protocol for Central Park cyclists. I wish the NYCC and CRCA had been (or would be) able to rope the NYRR into a joint declaration. No, not one dealing with marijuana; one that included runners in the protocol.

Point 9 reads: Never ride in the recreation lane[s] when the park is closed to car traffic.

How I long for the never-to-arrive day when the New York Road Runners extend themselves to educate/inform and monitor their thousands of members to confine themselves to the recreation lanes (i.e. stay out of the main roadway) when cars are not allowed in the park.
