BSTS 2012 - Ride still Open - Registration Troubleshooting

Submitted by VBaruh on Thu, 02/16/2012 - 12:00pm

Contrary to what the web page may tell you, there is still some room left in the BSTS. If you are having trouble signing up please send an email to the address prominently displayed on the BSTS page and we will help you sign up manually if it is needed. The correct proceedure to sign up for the ride series is as follows:

NYCC President Ellen Jaffe and Board Member Carol Waaser along with other concerned club members attended the February 15 City Council hearing on public safety. The focus was NYPD response, or lack thereof, to motor vehicle-on-bicycle incidents.

This is the testimony submitted by NYCC on this critical issue.

B-SIG distance

Submitted by Mr. Fabulous on Wed, 02/15/2012 - 4:38pm

I noticed the web page describing the B-SIG explains that the B17 "progresses from a 45-mile ride at 15mph on the first day, to a 100-mile ride (with full century option) at 17mph by early May."

Can I sign up to do the 100-mile ride without the full century option?

Can't register for the B STS

I dont see a way to register. There are no buttons on the B STS page.

lack of blue button on bottom of SIG page?

Submitted by evantick on Wed, 02/15/2012 - 1:28pm

In the SIG sign up directions, it states that if one does not see a blue button for signing up, then one has already signed up, or is not paid member, or is not logged it.

Unfortunately, it does not say who to contact if none of these seem to be the case. I am a paid up member who is logged in.  Since there appears to be no way to verify if i am already signed up for a SIG, how can I check the first condition?

I would appreciate it is someone involved in the SIG series could verify for me why i cannot apparently sign up (for Classic-A SIG) and what I can do to remedy this.

thanks very much

Evan

Testimony to the NYC Council Committee on the failure of police to police

UGLY, BUT TRUE: Police Failure to Police.

Testimony to the New York City City Council Public Safety & Transportation Committees in a Joint Hearing

February 15, 2012

Valentine’s Day is clearly over, as my testimony will make clear.

I moved to New York City from the automobile capital, Detroit, in 1965. Since then, in all that time not one cyclist, and, in fact, not one person has been killed, much less injured by a car, truck, cab, bus, or sanitation truck. Not one.

Unfortunately, many thousands have been killed by car, truck, taxi, bus, and sanitation truck drivers.

Is B-SIG already full?

Submitted by hsfwong on Wed, 02/15/2012 - 2:37am
I am checking at 1:35AM on 2/15, and the registration for the B-SIG is already closed.  Is that right?

If the NYPD monitors our board, please pass this along to Paul.

Today's NYT has a Health column about riding by Jane Brody, herself an active city cyclist although 70 years old--an age I can't imagine anyone riding. Her column is at: http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/02/13/pedal-power-comes-with-a-duty-for-all/?emc=eta1
