Re: Ride & Row: There's an Olympic trials & champion rower in the club.

Bob Schmon will not be riding or rowing with you tomorrow. He's out of town. Too bad. He was a champion rower at Princeton, rowed in the vaunted Henley Regatta in England, and was in the Olympic rowing trials...for Canada.

Garmin File for Garrsion-Port Jervis-Beacon ride

This route may deviate in a couple of instances from the cue sheet, but it reflects the latest consensus as to what route we (the leaders) intend on following. If you follow the cue sheet presently posted on the website, you won't get lost; you'll just miss a few nicer roads that Terry scouted and suggested.

Any marathoners out there?

Submitted by iforst on Thu, 06/07/2012 - 5:42pm

Hey guys,

Anyone training for the NYC Marathon this year? I'm looking for someone to train with, hopefully a cyclist who's looking to integrate cycling into the cross-training.

Has anyone used cycling as a cross training activity for marathon training? Any suggestions on how to incorporate it into a typical marathon training regimen

Normal people competing in stupidly impossible multi-stage endurance events

The really good idea at the time: ride the RAGBRAI, RAAM (Race Across America), Cape Epic or compete in a similarly stupid race that covers inhuman distances over the course of several days for no apparent reason other than to say you've done it.

Alpine repaving: careful on the descend

Submitted by amj2142 on Thu, 06/07/2012 - 1:48pm

Alpine repaving is under way, they stripped the entire section from the boat basin parking lot to the alpine police station. Our group was able to go down to the parking lot and back up Alpine this morning (~7AM) although the trucks and workers started rolling in right about that time. Also, if you decide to ride up/down Alpine in its hardpack condition, be careful on descending down to the parking lot. There is a sudden drop at the end of the descend and both leaders got a flat this morning!

Hi all, for anyone who missed the A-Sig Bear Mountain ride or anyone who feels like climbing and/or skipping for for a day, I'm going to head up Bear Mountain on Monday or Tuesday next week, depending on peoples availability. Anyone interested? -Andrew
