Monday 6 am River Road ride A 19/20
Sorry for the late notification but Susan Shockett and I plan to ride River Road/Alpine tomorrow leaving Grant's Tomb at 6 am.
A19/20 pace with a smooth paceline for much of the way. The ride will be about 30 miles and we should be back on the Manhattan side of the GWB by 7:40.
let me know if you are interested in coming or just show up at Grant's Tomb.

On the evening of July 29th, my sister got the news no parent ever wants to hear... Her youngest was killed by a hit-and-run driver while riding her bike home from work... As her "Irish Twin" brother, Patty asked me to contact relatives...I did...
brooklyn bridge 24 hours?
does anyone know from experience if the brooklyn bridge bike access is 24 hours? Website didn't mention closing and I asked a cop stationed at the brooklyn end of the bridge and he said it's always open, but I wouldn't mind another confirmation.
I would be riding in around 5am some days, and would be in trouble if I was late.
thanks!
Are the new bikes worth it?
I did a few century rides this summer. Each Time I did better than the last. I read various websites that say the improvement from a new bike is minimal yet people spend tons of money on upgrading. I myself have been eyeing an Eddy Mercyk road bike. Is it worth it? Does one magically become a better rider by getting a new bike that weights a pound or two less? How much better are the bikes made today vs 8-10 years ago? I don't race.

Tickets in CP
Park police looked like they were giving tickets today around 1130 at the stop light near the 72nd street entrance. Seemed like they were ticketed for failure to stop at the stop light (there was also a park officer standing on the stop line with a handheld stop sign).
Just FYI
I felt like a millionaire!
Thanks to Pat and Morris for a beautiful loop around Greenwich on the Mansion Ride.
A top 1% day to be sure!
