Ticketed at 42nd @ 6th Ave on 9/5
Two officers were handing out tickets like candy to any cyclist outside of the bike lane during the morning rush.
They did not care that the lane was obstructed again and again and pedestrians spilling out from Penn Station were walking up the lane the whole way, nor that most stopped were riding like turtles and obeying lights and laws and above all saftey.
Saw two commuters, one delivery driver, and a courier get ticketed while I played 20 questions with the officer who's time was being wasted as much as mine.
$130, or waste a day going to court and likely end up with the manditory class and community service mentioned in the NYT article from July.
UPDATE II: B to A Rider Training Series, BARTS is Finally Here.
Hi again folks,
Just wanted to let you know BARTS has listed a recovery ride for Sunday September 23. So if you rode hard on the ENY ride or did any other hard ride Saturday join us for an easy ride to Piermont and a chance to get to meet us. (Though we know most of you already).
Please be on the look out for the official BARTS ride listing. It should be up in a day or two.

Police crackdown on cars in CP?
It seems that the police are coming down harder on cars that are in the park during non-car hours.
Sunday at 4pm I saw a cab getting a ticket on 72nd in the park.
Monday at 5:50am a livery car was getting a ticket from an unmarked black towncar at the 110th street/Adam Clayton Powell exit from the park.

Actually, this is for the first 40 miles. The last thirty was a roller coaster of mountain lake roads. A handlebar videocam would have done them justice.
One discordant note from Tom A:
Emailing individual NYCC members
Can anyone tell me how to do this?
Thanks
Manhattan Bridge south path - pedestrians only, no bicycles allowed.
I walked across today, and was passed by a fixie hipster, a 14 or 15-ish kid riding a bike he outgrew 10 years ago, a roadie I've seen in Central Park who is card-carrying psychotic, a guy riding so slowly he was clearly in another dimension, and three beach-bike hipsters. Drugged, illiterate, overentitled, who knows. At the Brooklyn end there's a no-bikes sign, a barricade and two flights of stairs. At the Manhattan end, only the barricade and sign. The north side path has ramps at both ends. Draw your own conclusions.
On the plus side, this was in lieu of walking the insanity that is the Brooklyn Bridge.
