B SIG is ON for Saturday But Wil Start 1/2 Hour Later

Submitted by FLeffel on Fri, 03/08/2013 - 11:01pm

The B SIG ride is ON for Sat March 9 but we will start 1/2 hour later, at 10:00. (But you all know that REALLY means you have to be there at 9:45, right?)

The roads appear to be plowed and clear of snow, but there may be spray caused by runoff and melting snow. Fenders, if you have them, are advised.

See you all in the AM.

Fred

Thank You! NYCC Rocks

I have been very touched by the number of people who have asked (repeatedly) about my health and have offered emotional support, understanding AND excellent referrals.  Whenever people ask me about the New York Cycle Club I usually start off by telling them it’s a great group of people.  You guys take my breath away, in a good way!  Thank you.

Btw, it’s a smushed nerve root at C7 and I’m on my way to getting physical therapy.  Hopefully, it will be completely resolved in weeks.

Shimano's support for gun rights foundation ...

Submitted by NWeissman on Fri, 03/08/2013 - 12:38pm

With regards to Shimano's support for gun rights foundation opposing bans on hi-capacity magazines, military assault rifles and serialized ammo, note the following NYT image from Charity Takes Gun Lobby Closer to Its Quarry:

Who among the 2,200 of you fine cyclists will "step up to the plate" (baseball is just around the corner), to join our dear and highly esteemed Herb Dershowitz, and volunteer to help staff our front greeting table at this month's meeting, this coming Tuesday, on March 12th? I had a " last minute" cancellation and need a trustworthy volunteer to do this really easy job. I need a volunteer who can arrive at Annie Moore's Restaurant and Pub 50 E. 43rd St. (between Madison and Vanderbilt Aves.) no later than 5:30 PM to greet the early arrivers.

A wonderful new cycling friendly cafe in Brooklyn

Submitted by EWeiss on Fri, 03/08/2013 - 12:36am

My dear incomparable Ironman friend (30 completed Ironmans!), Larry D. Lewis, with whom I have braved the wind and cold all winter, tirelessly doing laps in our beloved Prospect Park, took me to a real cycling friendly oasis in the Windsor Terrace section of Brooklyn. The Juice Pedaler, 154 Prospect Park Southwest, Brooklyn, NY 11218 718-871-7500, owned by the cycling friendly and cheerful Deborah Capone, not only accepts cyclists and their bikes into their cafe, adorned with cycling memorabilia, they actually encourage cyclists to come with their bikes.
